DONT buy auction or repos! you're right, mine was a lease return (and a VERY good one) and i was the 2nd owner so my TL is immaculate. about the stealership being full of crap, that's usually the case. stealerships are like politicians or something. yes, i still think if you're patient enough, you'll find it some way or another. and about the spoiler, i know pretty much nothin' bout that, i don't have one. i wanted a TL without a spoiler, just my personal preference (kinda like my personal pref on the Onstar stub). but i do know i've seen them with all 4 brake lights working at the same time. good luck again man. when you find it, you better post pics on here before you even leave the lot!

 

This guy today found me 2 TL-S 03's. a black on tan with navi and a black on black no navi , both with spoliers. he said certified would be 24k , i told him 21K is my max. In florida these cars sell for max 22k in perfect condition (certified) i notice searching around the country dealers get 26k in cali for the same car, also up in mass, very high prices for this car.

i have noticed some tl-s with a ugly gold pkg (gold emblems) on the trunk.

do you know if that gold was avail on the black interior or only tan interiors?? i notice the gold only on the tans so far.

And , can you access the trunk on a 02-03 tl-s from the inside>? do the rear seats fold down? i forgot to look at that.

 

Yeah, I don't like the gold package look either It's an option when you get the car from factory. But I'm pretty sure they could just swap somethings out to remove the gold package ()

The rear seats don't fold down. Just that middle part where the arm rest is.
And about your price findings... supply and demand. I think you said before you don't see too many of them on the road in florida, so sure they'll be a little less there, but further up the east coast, there are plenty of them riding around.

Ok I will try to clear this up one more time the pic of the WDP with chrome is not my car.. I feel in love with that pic so much it made me change my mind from black to WDP.. I dont want to take credit for a car that is not mine but that is one badass pic.

Hey Mafi, you were correct in saying to wait it out! I found a 03 TL-S Black on Black with Navi and spolier, its at a local Acura Dealer down the street , they are certifing right now and it will be ready monday. It has 41k. All sounds good so far. I am thinking of putting a deposit because its a rare car (Navi)

What do you think>??

 

...sounds like you better get off this computer and race over there right now! i'm not kidding, it can go quick. i drove all over when i was looking for mine. i live in sac and drove as far as the Bay area multiple times. be the first one there, just don't seem over-eager, though. just strollllll on in there lookin' all casual and ask if they "happen" to have a black-on-black TL Type-S with navi in stock. remember, THEY want to sell it! i'm glad you waited, bro. remember, though, if it's not the right one for you, it's not the right one for you. this may be the one, but that's not guaranteed. i test drove mine quite a few times before buying it. just remember the key word: patience. Oh, I have a back up plan, there is antoher Acura dealer certifing 2 more TL-s right now. A silver on black and black on black, both w/o navi and spoiler. And both are 2002

 

Does anyone know if you have to put Super Unleaded in the S Types? or can it take regular unleaded?

I found a Black on Black 2003 TL-S type with Navi adn spoiler with 41k miles, Certified from an Acura dealer.

They are asking $23200.00 CERTIFIED. PLUS DEALER FEES($479), TAX(6%), TAG($225).


I need to add the Acura Care 100k bumper to bumper.

I need to know realistically how much I should offer them for this car.

The Edmund's TMV of this car is $25,000. Kelly Blue book is $24k.


Any Help would be appreciated, as I am going this Monday to close a deal.

I bought mine last year July 04. I got a 02 Type S without Navi but with spoiler wiht 39k miles for $22500 out he door with 100k warranty.

 

I think I am going to offer them 20k, thats the best I can do for this car. They will still be making $6000-8000 profit on this car from what they paid at the auction.

Used cars have a hugh profit margin, I think bigger than new cars sometimes.

I've seen other people say the same thing about their cars on here. Who know why that happens, maybe current market demands...

 

I had a 2002 TLS NBP/Ebony with a spoiler.....no navi though. It was a great car and I was really sorry to see it go when I sold it to get a '04TL. My reason for selling the car was the paint. I had problems with acid rain etching on the hood and trunk. It was so bad that the dealer was willing to repaint the areas damaged under warranty, but since the car was only a few months old at the time, I declined. Since they wanted to keep my happy, they offered something comperable in price so I asked for a Comptec Exhaust. I got it, and was really happy with the car except for the paint issue. NBP is a beautifull color, and looks great on the TLS styling, but it's a nightmare to keep clean, and is really prone to acid rain damage. When the sun comes out after a rainstorm, the droplets on the paint act like a lens then the sun burns the paint. I don't think it's actually acid, but more from the sun and the lens effect burning the paint. I don't have the problem with my new car...it's Anthracite/Ebony. I just wanted to warn you to look carefully at the paint before you buy the car. Make sure you look for small stains or waterspots. They look like waterspots, but if they're acid rain damage, they won't come off no matter how hard you polish and buff the paint. Good luck with the car...I loved the TLS...and it's a great looking car in NBP especially with the spoiler. Get a red pinstripe...that really sets off the car and matches the Type S emblem color.

Hey if I were you go ahead and purchase a type S. I just purchased mine about three weeks ago. I bought a 03 SSM type S with only 21000 for 22,300 with the the extended 100,000 7 year warranty. I love it. And as far as the spoiler goes. I know on ebay you can buy the oem spoiler painted already and shipped for like 200 bucks and just have it installed. Its just a idea. I know cause i wanted the spoiler too but instead i put the M5 spoiler lip on mine.

 

...yeah, i know, it seems kind of hard to believe. but it's true, i got all my paperwork to prove it, ! i knew i got lucky since the second i drove it of the lot. and about that acid rain, pheeewww! i'm glad i live in cali, no acid rain on my TL . and, um, pinstripe? my personal opinion

 

Hey Mafi, I bought the car today, its not ready yet but its the 03 Black on Black TL-S with NAVI and spolier/onstar.

I will pick it up tuesday or wednesday certified. Its a real gem! I coudlnt let it slip away.

I cant belive I almost paid the same price for a black on black TL-S last month without navi and onstar.

I will post pics when I get them.

Does anyone know if you can burn a copy of the DVD-ROM navi disc? I have a loner TSX with navi untill my car is ready.

um, your car should come with the DVD and i don't know if the TSX's DVD will be any different or if it'll work But anyways, welcome to the NBP Type-S club!

I forgot to ask the dealer. but all certified navi tls come with the dvd? and also, will the navi not work if the dvd is not in the player in the trunk?

 

yes, all certified TLs w/Navi come with the DVD. even if they're not certified, really. buying a TL w/navi without the DVD would be like buying a camcorder off the street without a power adaptor (dont ask, i didn't do it. i used to work at an electronics retailer a lil while back and i saw dumbass people do that every day ). and also correct, without the DVD inside, it wont work. have you taken a look at it yet? if the navi worked at all, it has the DVD. plus, that's specifically one of the points in certifying the TL.

btw, you should tell them you want the latest version of the DVD included!!!

That's sounds like a good deal for your TLs. I've seen OEM style spoiler with color matched paint for under $250 shipped on spoilerdepot.com That's where I'm gettin mine from.

Oh yeah, make sure you push your blue button on your OnStar to change the information to yours instead of the previous owner.

Hey, does anyone have info on where to buy a HP mod chip for the 03 TL-S?? how much HP will it give me? and what about a new Air Filter? And does this improve gas mileage?

 

A new air filter will improve gas mileage, and the only chip I've heard of is the Unichip, but I've also read it's not worth the small gain... but I could be misinformed.

I remember my moms 2003 MDX had it on her navi, but this 2003 TL seems to have amore basic navi system.
