Help with REmoving front bumper

Hi all,

So i've decided to finally install my blacked out headlights, but i'm debating on whether I should do it myself or have it put in for me at a shop. I just needed some opinions on how hard it is to remove the front bumper.

Can I do it by myself?

I tried taking the the pins from underneath the bumper out and they wouldn't pop out like the ones under the hood would; should I just drill through them and by replacements? ANd if so where can I buy the replacement pins?

Thanks in advance.

BTW, I have a 2002 TL-S WDP.

HAHA, if im correct, you just might be going through the same bullshit i went through when removing my bumper. Yes, those pins underneath fucken suck. They deff dont come out nice and easy like the ones under the hood do. What you gotta do is take a looooonnnnngggg flat tip screw driver and that will allow you to wedge under it good and give you more slack to pop them out. It sucks to do it, but even though they give you a hard time, the bumper really is easy to take off yourself. Its nothin really. If you dont know all the steps to taking off the bumper let me know. oh and DO NOT DRILL THROUGH THEM. USE THAT METHOD AS A LAST RESORT IF YOU REALLY ARE INCAPABLE OF TAKING THE GROMMETS OUT LIKE YOUR SUPPOSED TO K.

use 2 screw drivers (1 on each side) odds are you will probably break some. they can be found at the dealer or honda dealer

Clearing is something you can do yourself. do you have teh DIY on doing it?

I would STRONGLY recommend doing a search on this topic before you get started. Its been awhile since Ive taken mine off but I'll give you a few pointers that stand out in my mind:

Taking off your bumper is relatively easy if your even just a little mechanically inclined (like me). You dont have to be a mechanic at all. After you take the clips out of the bottom using the 2 screwdriver-method, remember that you have to remove the bolts in each front wheel well near the area where the bumper meets the fender. After removing these bolts, place one hand on the bottom of the bumper on one side, and the other where you removed the above mentioned bolts and give the bumper a good, healthy tug. Dont pull so hard that you bend the bumper in half; once you feel the one side come out a little, do the same on the other side.

Be sure to lay a blanket down in front of the car in case the bumper comes flying off when you start pulling...never know, you might be stronger than you think...

GOOD LUCK!!
