Help!! Radar Detector?

Sup everyone I just got my license suspended for 3 months. I am going to drive without it for 3 months and try not to get caught. Will a radar detector help me and detect all cops? Help suggestions please. I can't keep my baby in the garage that long hehe. Thanks

Why was is suspended? maybe you could just drive safe instead of a detector.

My advises are (I'm sure u're aware of all these):

Drive only when u REALLY need to...
DO NOT SPEED - Drive at the posted speed limit(s) (This anwers your question on the radar detector, right? From what I've read, LASER can be pick up by radars, but they usually pick it up too late!)...
If u see police road blocks / blockades, take a detour (if possible) or figure a way around them...
Make sure all your car's exterior lights are working properly...

Whatever else you can think off to avoid getting pulled over, do it!

Good luck in getting "by" with your suspended license!

P.S. - If u're not offended, post the reason why your license got suspended. Maybe it's something the rest of us here at the forums would never be aware off to keep an eye on.

i agree with alfielum, just remember, that even the most carefull people can still get in a simple minor accident and if the other guy calls the cops, your tottaly screwed....

A radar detector will not locate all cops. It will only locate the cops actually shooting radar. If they use instant on, your busted.

WTF? It's unfortunate you got a DWI, but now you want to drive without your license. I don't have a problem with that. It's your choice. But why would you risk speeding? Just drive the speed limit.

I dislike drunk drivers. You shouldn't drive at all. If you get caught driving w/o a license you should be thrown in jail

IMHO

...oh and if you decide to drive, don't speed or it truly proves you are an idiot.

Dude seriously, I think you might be pushing it a bit. If you DO get pulled over, you won't have a license for alt longer then 3 months! Think of it..... Is it really worth it????

the problem is not you getting pulled over. i really hope youd be smart enough to avoid that for the next three months.

the bigger problem is if you happen to get in an accident (god forbid). even if its 100% not your fault, and some total a$$hole causes a little fender bender, your f^cked. royally.

probably not worth it for 3 months of driving, but thats a choice you seem to have made already, so best of luck.

Here is how LIDAR (commonly refered to as laser) and radar works. Sorry about it being kinda long, and ive kept it non technical.

- LIDAR (or Laser) is only available in hand held models, and it only works when the operator is stationary or parked. The only time it sends out a beam of light is when the trigger is pulled and held by the operator. so your radar/laser detector wont go off until it's too late. Because the cop has to actually see your vehicle and point the laser at your car (using a heads up display that sits on top of the laser). Laser is target selective and only pin points one car at a time. By the time your laser detector goes off, too late the cops got you.

-RADAR, works in stationary and moving modes. Which means if the cop is driving in the opposite direction you are he can still get you. Some newer radars have same direction speed. That means when you are catching up to that cop in front of you, he can actually get your speed as you approach him (scary huh!). If the cop is good, he keeps the "hold" button activated, which prevents the radar beam from being sent out, thus not activiating your detector. When he sees you coming, he hits the button and gets your speed, long before your dectector activates. (Oh yeah, the newer radars also can detect "fastest" vehicle. That is, radar picks up the largest object traveling in its path, however the new radars gets that big rig you are passing and also gets your TL speed as you blow by the big rig, very very scary).
