This is really bad timing. I have been preparing my car for sale and looks like the tranny is dying on me. It just free-revs to 6K RPM and then shifts with a hard jerk and sometimes does not shift-up at all - just revs to eternity. I have to put it into SS and shift up. When I put it into sportshift the final gear is always 4

I am really pissed as I have babied the car since I got it. It is completely stock and has the oil changed every 3K miles. All services have been performed at Keyes Acura and mileage is only 19960 I have never EVER abused this car and looks like my transmission is still going

Would someone please let me know what the process is. My concern is if the dealer puts in some refurbished crap or if the problem is not fully fixed and keeps recurring. What would be a fair compensation while my car is in the garage (loaner? lease mileage allowance??)

I would really appreciate any feedback thanks. I can't believe this is happening on a brand new Acura...I am still in disbelief

 

welcome to the club. Although I dont' know if I'd care to be 'welcomed' Sorry to hear about your problem.

My dealer visit went fairly painlessly. I had it taken in on a flatbed. They tested it and they told me I needed a new one. They gave me a dodge intrepid rental and a week later, I'm cruising in my baby again.

As for will it happen again? No one can tell you an authoritative answer to that one. However, I, along with a few others here, will be purchasing an extended warranty.

Unfortunately, it is a problem that can get ANYONE with a TL-S at any time, especially when you least expect it. It's especially tough when it happens to a long time member, as opposed to some one who just chimes in when their tranny dies.



It should not affect the selling of your car. Just get it replaced and sell the thing. Everything is covered under warranty.
