I just got 18" rims put on my 97 3.2TL and the back tires rub when there is any wieght in the back. I want to keep the rims, and there is plenty of fenderwell gap, almost 2" before anyone gets in. Should I get new or aftermarket springs to get this to stop? If I just get new OEM springs, will it be stiff enough to stop it from rubbing or do I NEED to get Eibach's for it to stop?

I don't how Comptech (lowering) springs will help.

If there's a rubbing problem with a 2" gap before weight either you probably just need to replace the existing ones. If it rubs with no added weight you probably have the incorrect offset on the rims for your car. I think that if you lower with Comptech springs without correctly diagnosing the original problem, you will only have more problems with rubbing.

BTW, what is the offset on the rim. I don't know what it should be, but I'm sure with that information the other's should be able to help you a lot easier.

you probably have incorrect offset, or your tires are way too fat for the wheel well. it might help to give more detailed information. changing springs will not solve the problem.

Tell us what kind of rim it is so we know what the offset is.

1 piece rims are usually between +42 +47.
Stock offset is 55

If you are rubbing now you will definitely rubb if u lower it
