Help on making my tl look and run better
hello everyone I am usually a silent participant on the boards. I read everything but never post threads. I now need your suggestions. I have a 99 tl. They only add on I have done to is thusfar is an aem cold air intake. I read about springs, and big brakes rotors rims etc. Besides rims (which I am going to get soon) what is a must have on my car to make it go faster and look better. I am really not interested in racing the car but I want to be able to blow some people away if they dare challenge me at a light every once in a while. I am also installing a mesh grill which I think looks pretty cool. Any suggestions, I need brand names and everything, i will take a before and after picture to let you guys see what you have helped me create. thanks JBL

headers! for 16 easy wheel horsepower, spoiler and body kit too, sways for great hadling and springs to lower it one inch or so. Then acceleration is better, cornering is better and looks are better.

Agreed.
Headers are the biggest thing you can do in our cars next to supercharger. OBX has headers for about $400, Comptech for over $1000.
Exaust would do a little good, but not much.
Brake upgrade is good idea, cross drilled rotors and green stuff brake pads... The rotors on our cars SUCK and if your going to drive "athletically" then you need these...

IMO id go all show no go 1st since our cars have pretty decent power.. so get rims, OEM kit or WW kit, 02 tails, and springs. youll have ur show there. then work up the go since u already have the intake.

the first thing i would do is use honda's top engine cleaner and a fuel injection service.
it will restore lost HP by removing carbon build up and crud from your engine/fuel system.
gets you better gas mileage too.

O.G.
What rims are you getting? We want to save you the embarrassment if it is ugly looking.
BTW, I would definitely get the oem bodykit, 02 tails, and clear out your lights first.

Another IMO....I agree with the comment that our cars have pretty decent power already. I have concentrated on the looks and added Comptech springs. They lower the car, improving looks, and improved handling by decreasing body roll a bit. I am planning on adding sways for better control of body roll. Rims are a good idea as well. I love the body kit but chose not to install it because the front lip would be scratched up in a heartbeat on these crappy Cleveland roads. I suspect it's similar in New Jersey, but many Jersians on this site have installed the body kit with no trouble....I'm just too chicken to scratch up something that costs so much.

jleon--The topic of whether H&R or Comptech springs are better has been fought many a time, with the combatants coming away bloodied, so you may want to pursue a search for further information on this topic. That said, I have Comptechs and like the rake they give the car, even if it cost more to get it. I also don't have to use a camber kit with the Comptechs.
