Question Help!! How do I remove this from my paint?

Guys,

After washed the car again this weekend; I found there is a very small spot on the hood looks like dried glue. (It's very small, like a drop... and the color is almost transparent but you still can see it under the sun.)

I tried to wash it out but couldn't. Anyone know what product I can use to remove it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

you think it might be tree sap? if so, you can buy mother's or meguiar's clay bar system. wash the car, spray some of the lubricant on the area and rub with the clay bar to see what happens..it can remove a lot of stuff stuck on your panels. after you're done you can wax this area for extra protection (and as directed by the directions). this system is good to have, especially when the car gets older, so you would not be wasting any money...the detailing spray can be used often. it's less than $20 for the bar, detailing spray and wax...and you can pick it up at most auto parts shops like kragen, pepboys, autozone, chief.

Try a little vinegar on a rag and see if that takes it off, if its tree sap vinegar should take it off, for really stubborn sap let a drop of vinegar sit on the sap for a few minutes.

P21S is good stuff as well, but try the vinegar thing first, its cheap and easy.

Mineral spirits. Available at any hardware store. also great for tar, adhensives, etc.

Dupont Prepsol also is great - contains MS and Zylene. Used to remove wax, silicone, etc in prep for paint - can get it at auto paint sores.

Scratch in paint

How do I get rid of that?

It is a deep scratch into to clearcoat I think, is it?
Any suggestion?

Usually its a rule of thumb that if you can feel the scratch with your finger nail, you can't take it out with convential 'buff it out' method. I have a friend who got his Blue Viper keyed all the way around. He is trying to go the route of 'air brushing' before going to the insurance company to repaint the entire car.

if you can feel the scratch with your nail, forget about buffing it off, too hard...

Guys,

OK, after I spend couple days try to figer it out what exactly on the paint; I realize that is a drop of dried paint.

I took my car to a body shop last time to repair some stone chips on the hood. Maybe they spilled a drop on it and didn't wipped out. (That "thing" is actually on the fender near by the hood.)

Is there any product can remove that? I ordered something called "Wurth Clean-solve" (http://www.properautocare.com/wurclean.html) and should receive it tomorrow. Did anyone tried that product before?

Thanks again for all your help!!!!

Davidas:

I don't think you can DIY for that. Try to find someone to fix it for you. In here, there is a guy who drives a van to your home to repair scratch bumper or scratch paint. He is pretty good and won't take too long. The cost is about US$70 - $120; depends on its condition and repair size and won't see any difference after repaired.

You may wanna look for it in your area.

I would just wet sand it and polish it out - if you are not comfortable with that as a DIY, get a pro as others have suggested.

Epoxy?

They sprayed a new roof on the building across the street in April (two weeks after I got my car) and they used Epoxy to hold down the gravel on the roof.. Well, the sprayed down nearly 100 cars including mine.

We hired a company that came out and used razor blades on the windshields and synthetic clay bars on the paint of all the cars. My trimwork is STILL runined and the windshield still has residue on it.

The company is unwilling to any more about it. But with every pass of the clay bar (I swiped some from the detailers...call me a cheap b*stard) the car comes a little cleaner...

I would definitely try the clay bar repeatedly over the same spot, folding it over and over to keep it clean and pick up more of the paint off of your car...
