Help, Cold air intake system.

I’m looking to buy a cold air intake system for my 2000TL. Someone told me just get the air filter from K&N and would have same effectives as a complete after market intake system. Is this true or he just feed me some bulls…? Can someone give me some feedback?
I just want to improve performance and not have to ripout bunch of stock parts. But if need I will buy the complete Cold air intake system. Is the complete cold air intake system look cool? Where can I buy it?

CAI:

looks cool
improves HP
provides better throttle response
available at most speed shops

when you install your CAI or SR, you'll notice all the excess stock parts you pull out, and be replaced with something much simplier

You have a AEM short ram in your 2000? I guess you don't need a by-pass value either.

Well, it depends on what you're looking for.

Do you want people to go "ooh, ahh" when you pop the hood? Do you want to hear the VTEC going loud as all hell? Then get the CAI.

If you just want the peace of mind that your car is breathing in better, then get the K&N flat replacement filter.
