Help!

well my car just broke down at work. i dont know if its an electrical problem or either the alternator died, could be numerous things. i first noticed a slight problem on my guages where the needles would just die out and then the check engine light comes on kind of like surge for one second. this happened about 2-3 times in the past week. at first i thought it was the tranny going but this is not the case now. is there a way to see if my alternator is dead? i changed out my battery about less than a year ago so i doubt that is my problem. any help would be appreciated.

Wel the battery is dead then. As to why?? did you leave a light on? will it stay running if you get a jump start? You may want to get your alternator tested. it kinda sounds like it may not be putting out what it should be if your new battery is dead already

hmm..weird..it MIGHT have been a loose screw that clamps the connectors on the battery. ill just wait a bit and see if that was the problem.
