HELP!..1 Headlight out (After HIDextra kit installed)
PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE-HELP
so i installed my kit...both headlights worked for about 2 weeks after i installed. now only 1 head light works (DRIVER). iended up swapping ballasts and it worked having both lights back on for another week. now its out again. i swapped ballasts again and it didnt work this time. The bad headlight is the (PASSSENGER), but no matter what ballast i put on the (PASSENGER) it dont work. but any ballast I put on the (DRIVER) it works..The bulb is still good on the (PASSENGER) side so i can rule that problem out...
Is there a fuse somewhere? Does not having the relay installed cause this? how would one wire a relay? this is driving me crazy!

no relay kit required
we do have stock fuse box and relay for the lights
each light has its own relay
try swapping those with other of same color
otherwise call hidextra for help
its possible to get a bad bulb or ballast
Your connections to ballast are made how? solder, splice
or bought a connector to match the one installed on ballast with kit?

I looked and i know of 3 places to find fuses. 1 under the hood and 2 inside the car, when u open the doors. i looked at the legend and tthey are all not blown. if im not mistaken, the are the pull fuses.

hid extra is sooo difficult to work with, the warranty is expired due to me getting new ballasts. i have all thier troubleshooting documents too, but they didnt help me.

Check quality of wiring from power source to bulb, not necessarily the splicing! yeah, i checked that very closely. i even wiggled the wires to see if it possibly might be a short, but nothing. this matter is literally making me feel uncomfortable driving at night.....

I still have this same issue and will speak to my mechanic about it soon. In the mean time, what I have been doing if the passenger doesn't turn on is turn off the lights, flip my highbeams on and then turn on the lights. This for some odd reason always works for me. I'll let you know what I find out though. I'll probably head down there today or tomorrow.

If your lights worked for 2 weeks before, then obviously something is now toast. Here are the culprits you need to check and verify:
1) How many relays does the HID harness have...one or two? Check the relays to ensure that the input trigger of the relay (i.e. when lights are on) will put +12V on the output pin and send it to the ballast where the bulb is off, as you say.
2) Check your wiring harness for continuity between all connections going from (+) and (-) of battery, to relay(s) and to ballast.
3) The HID bulb. Plug it on the other side to confirm its working.
4) The ballast. Plug a working bulb in it to confirm it works or not. Also plug a voltmeter to it and check that +12V is going in it, AND that voltage is coming out of the connector going to the HID bulb.
Also check your harness to make sure no wires are getting pinched somewhere and causing a short.
For a 2 week old kit, you should have a warranty and replacement from the seller. Isolate the problem first.

the hidextra ballast use the stock relay for power
You cut the OE pos and neg wires at the connector to OE ballast and
reconnect the power to the new ballast leads
if you have issues you MAY need the relay kit they offer
to bypass acuras wiring and system
Those with hidden probs like bad soldering under the fuse block
can benefit from it
diy from radio shack or 16$ from hid
when you are a repeat customer they offer discounts
even if you have to buy a ballast- because its been a while since purchase,,
whats that, 20 bucks?
fliiker is usually ballast --be it bad ground or internal unit problem
(there were a few reports of bad ballast by ziners some months ago)
bulbs tend to work or not
Loss of light on one side- where cycling the switch brings it back= usually need ballast,,and bulbs
