I expect to do some projects and just generally tinker on my TL over the coming years. I want to know how to take off various interior parts as well as what wire does what. I'll also play around under the hood a little bit as well. But there are a few Helm manuals and, from their descriptions, seem to overlap the subject material. Here's what I found on Helm's website (copy-and-pasted, so excuse the CAPS):

I assume I won't need the body repair manual, but are the shop and service manuals the same thing? Do the shop/service manuals give enough info on the electrical components (eg. finding the wire that controls turn signal lights if you want to add side markers)?

Any other input on these books appreciated.

these 2 are the same, just one was for 99-00 and the other was for 99-01 and it was renamed.

I recently got mine and I got the 99-01 version. I ordered it last monday and it came on friday, just in time for my install.

My '99 Service manual includes circuit diagrams for all electrical systems and procedures for removing Bose stereo, speakers, door panels, air filter, engine, etc. - as well as detailed maintenance schedules.
