heated seats only on back part?
It seams like my heated seats are only really heating up the back part and not the actual seat. Is anyone having similar problems? I think it was fine last year! thanks

Fixed the coil - there is no difference, once fixed it's as good as new. Replacing the part is even easier, you just skip all the soldering stuff and the new one plugs in the back of the seat cushion. You still have to perform all of the diassembling of the seat and cushion.
BTW. I found a place that sells the element for 78 bucks. www.acuraparts.net
I have the reverse problem, my back doesn't heat up but I am too lazy to pull apart the seat back.

please clarify this for me. Does the back of the seat (the upright section with the headrest) heat up as well as the part you sit on? I bought my TL used and I love the heated seats but my only complaint was that my lower back was cold. I have a 00' TL. This would be nice....

I've had my car for 7 months and I always thought the seat was the only part that heated up. I always complained to myself that the back part should be heated too. Guess I'll be taking my car to the dealer. Should be under warranty, right?

according to the acura dealership when I was car shopping, they told me that the drivers back and seat heat up while only the seat heats up on the passenger side...not the back...dont know if this is true or not, its just what they told me...

This is because there is a sensor in the passenger seat back for the side air bag (senses when a little kid is there so it doesn't blow his head off or anything). You'll notice your air bag light go on the dash if you put a heavy breifcase in the seat or have a short friend who likes to lean forword. This sensor takes up the space where the heater would be, or possibly the heat would interfere with the sensor.

It is going to be 9 for a high this week and now that I know it is supposed to work, thats all I'll be thinking about. I HATE when stuff doesnt work. You know I;ll be getting this fixed (do you think the'll put the feature my father-in-laws Jag has? When he puts his heated seats on, the steering wheel gets warm. Too cool)

IN the 99 the passenger back and @ss heats up becasue I do not think there are side airbags. Anyway all the 99+ TL's driver seat heats the @ss and back up! It is way to cold in Jersey, I could not even remote start my car it was so cold this morning. I had to freeze in the morning and gicve the car a littel crank to get it started!! Can't wait till summer time!

driver seat = back + bottom heat
passenger seat = bottom heat only
if it's out, just bring it in to the dealer if you're still under warrantly. my driver seat bottom element broke and my dealer fixed it no questions asked.

I dont feel that my driver side back portion heats up at all. Only the ass part heats up. For those of you's who have the back part heating up.. does it heat up as well as the ass part? I mean I can't see it not working since my car is only 4 months old. If that is the case.. i'll be off to the dealer.

my back part was getting WAY too warm while the ass part wasn't working. i told the dealer about it and they got the ass part working and adjusted down the heat on the back part.

What year is your TL? They didn't put the side airbags in until 2002 (I think--it might have been 2001) so earlier models would have backs and bottoms for both seats.

If you do feel your back getting warm in the passenger seat, go see a doctor.

I love cars!
Severin, you're mistaken. The side air bags are in the side of the seat itself, not in the door. Check the side of the seat and you'll see the lavel for it. The ruffly leather is just for decoration.

I had the same problem with the seat not heating up in my 99TL. There was a thread a couple of months with really good instructions on how to fix it yourself. I looked quickly but couldn't find it now but search and you should come across it. With the step by step instructions it only took about 45 minutes to fix the element. I did it in November of last year and it has been working perfectly ever since. Works great in the -25 C weather weve been having up here in Canada.
