heated seats not heating anymore..

turned the driver's side heat on high and the seat heat did not come on. The back did heat. the bottom did not. Oh well, trip to the dealer, i guess.

I got a quote for 350 for the seat heater repairs when I was at the dealer last time for service. Not worth that money to me...

maybe the heating element for the seat back is warmer than for the bottom cuz that's what i notice.

i would assume it'd be covered under warranty?

My drivers side back went out last winter and was replaced under warranty with no problems whatsoever. It was surprisingly painless.

what was the reason why it went out? now i'm wondering if my driver seat bottom may be either out or taking much longer than the seat back to heat up.

i'm also curious to know why the passenger seat back can't have a heating element. people say it's cuz of the side airbag system, but the driver side also has one too.

The passenger side has the sensors which deactivate the side airbags if someone is leaning agains the door or seated incorrectly. This prevents them from getting hurt. The drivers side does not have these sensors.

that makes sense...most of the time though these sensors end up going bad. Many forum members have had their "side airbag off" indicator come on without anything on or near the seat. Which sensor does the dealer replace when this problem comes up?

Both side airbags will be turned off if the sensor is triggered, but if the driver is driving the car, he more than likely wont be slumped on the door and not in the center of his seat would he???

If you have the owners manual, you really should read through it.

P.S. I thought the senors were purely sensing weight, but if I stick something like my sunscreen in between the seat and door without even touching the seat, the sensor gets activated.

Nope, only the passenger side airbag deactivates when the Side Airbag Off light illuminates.

Got it fixed from the dealer, $0, under warranty. o/wise it would have cost $180 for the seat bottom and $180 for the seat back
