Heated seats

Ok, in our cars, the driver side has heat on the seat and the back, and the passenger just has it on the seat.

Has anyone ever looked at putting the filament from the drivers's side in the passenger side seat? Would it work or blow out some of the electronics?

my 02 TL-S only has the butt warmer in it, no heat in the back due to the side airbags being in the back of seat.

The driver side has butt and back. Passanger side only has butt because of sensors in the seat that control the side airbag.

It's not a good idea to mess with it. If they could have made it so the passanger could have heat on the back they would have, but since it interfered with a SAFETY item such as the side airbag they left it out.

It's the sensor that says "passanger airbag off" if a child or small adult doesn't weigh enough or is leaning in the path of the aribags deployment.

I use this sensor to determine if the girl i'm dating is too fat for me, becuase every girl I hang out with sets the "passanger airbag off" light lol.If they don't set if off we usually don't hangout anymore. ha-ha

So, why would a heated seat have anything to do with an airbag sensor? I have a side airbag on the drivers side, and I have heat on my back too, that argument doesn't seem to add up.

Because my passenger is my wife for one, and for two she is always cold so if I can get her back heated too, then I am not subjected to a 75 degree atmosphere in the car. Right now she is required to bring a blanket with her on all roadtrips so she can keep warm.

Also, every time we get into a car that has heat on the back as well I get to hear about how my beloved TL doesn't do it, but XXX car does....

The sensor that turns the airbag on/off can be damaged by the heated element, so they don't use one there. The driverside does not have an on/off sensor.

It's also in your owners manual.

Quinto, glad you like that. Whenever I pick a girl up for the first time I get all excited if that light goes on. haha

How many 8 year olds do you see driving cars? The "reason" they do this is because of the system they designed to identify the difference between an 8 year old and your wife sitting in the seat.

Why??? I'm with you, I don't know... My 2007 Camry had both heated seats (butt & back) and had the same 8 year old kid finding technology??? Your 2G AND my 3G for whatever reason (guessing patents) can't warm the passenger's back.

Id rather have a safer car than a heated back. The TL is better than the BMW which has a heated back for the passanger. IF the passanger don't like it divorce her. lol J/K

yea why DO you need heated seats in florida? man my drivers heat warmer doesnt work and I am too lazy and cheap to go fix it cuz I know that the dealership is gonna rip me off for that. So the -50 C degrees winter is coming and its gonna be interesting how this will work out haha but I never had seat warmers before so I am not too worried
