Heat Outside/Problem Inside?

Hey guys,
The weather in So. California has been a killer these past few days. Scorching top 90's all the way up to 115 in some areas.

So my question is, if the inside of the TL gets way too hot from the heat (parking outside during work) does it affect the leather or anything in the interior.

I'm having a problem where the heat actually causes my center compact to not close. Is this happening with anyone else? Once it's too hot, the compact just goes straight up and does not "lock" in when i close it. If anybody has any suggestions, please feel free to share! Thanks!

yeah, use winshield cover while parked. The difference could be as much as 30 degrees between using one and not using one. You also prevent the leather from direct sunlight also. I have tinted windows on all sides...that helps too.

I haven't had that happen but I know others have brought the car into the dealership to fix that problem (the plastic latch that is suppose to keep that center console closed).

The UV rays will break down any protectant that you may have on your car's interior faster. I would suggest using something like 303 more often than usually and use one of those heat shield things for the window.

Just some suggestions...

No offense to you DrunkenMaster this is why I voted awhile back that TIM aka Snook the owner of this site merge the TL & TYPES-S forums.
The topic on the armrest problem is being posted again now on the TL forum. I think some of us do not go between the 2 forums & we have most of the same problems. But I go between the 2 all the time. I will gladly answer your question the armrest has a design flaw & many of us have had this problem since the 1999 & 2000 TL models. The guys over on the CL forum have it also.
I just took my 2000TL back to the dealer the other day with this problem while having other service done. This was my second time with this problem since having my TL for over 2yrs now.
The armrest has many screws underneath the sliding compartment they come out in the armrest or fall on the floor. I had this fixed well over a year ago because the thing would pop up byitself. I have not had any problems since the fix untill this spring. I went to the car & the armrest was open. I know I did not leave it open & nobody else could not have got in the car. I then looked underneath for missing screws again & for sure a few had fallen out. They will fall out in the armrest or on the floor. I had the dealer look at it again the other day. Thy replaced the missing screws & put some locktight cement on them. I hope this will fix it for good or awhile. It was not that bad this time because not that many screws had fallen out. I had 2 fall in the armrest & 1 on the floor in the seat track. That one could have came from the other time.
