Heat Control Valve Cable, HELP!

Hey Guys,
My heat valve does not pull back in when I turn the knob to cold. In fact, it doesn't go back it even if I push it. I have tried greasing it, and to no avail.
I have a feeling it has disconnected from the other side (inside behind the dash).

The cable is #8 in the picture below.

The cable only costs $6 from www.acuraoemparts.com.
The part number is:
79544-S87-A01 CABLE, WATER VALVE CONTROL.

I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else? Does anyone know where the other side of the cable is (behind the dash)? I am willing to take off the dash, but I don't want to do it if the other end of the cable is not there.

Any advice would help.

Thanks guys,

TL Toledo

Its most likely not the cable. Its probably the water control valve or the mix motor.

Well, is there a way I can check if the cable is broken? Is it ALL visible from under the hood, or do I have to do something to the dash?

Odds are the cable wouldnt be stopping it at all nor is it broke, Especially if you cant move the valve by hand. You can see the cable where it attaches to the valve and if you stick your head under the dash you will see where it attaches.

So by hand you have those issues?? Disconnect the cable and see if you still have hose issues
