Hearing Funny Noise From Engine Through Dash Board!

When I press on the gass slightly I hear a rumbling noise from my engine through the dash board. I think it might be my engine telling me its time for a oil change, but my Jiffy Lube tag says I have another 500 miles to go. Usually after I recieve a oil change I dont hear the noise, but its kind of spooky. Any idea what might be causing the noise and what can I do to stop it?

Mileage: 140,700
Transmission: Good
Brakes: Worn (needs new front brakes)
Belts: N/A
Battery: Less than a year old
Repairs needed: Engine Mounts & SRS light is on.

do you have a CAI? it could be just a regular engine rumble. did you use synthetic oil or regular oil? it could be time for a change. and what brand of oil? does it usually do this? when is the last time you check your other fluid levels? ohj yea, check your email

Not really sure what a CAI is but my car is a 1999 Acura TL 3.5. Not to sure what oil jiffy lube uses but I dont think its synthetic might be just regular because I usually just pay $41.00 and im guessing synthetic would be alittle more expensive. Not to sure what brand they use either. I'll ask next time I go to Jiffy Lube. Do you have an email address so I can get back to you with that information?

i sent you an email about the rims. 41 dollars for an oil change at jiffy lube?!?! for that price get it done at acura and save yourself the hassle of them stripping your oil pan bolts(it happens ALOT). im sure you meant that you had an acura 3.2 not a 3.5. a cai is a cold air intake, it makes yoru car sound really mean when you accelerate rapidly. could be a number of things thats wrong. or maybe there is no issue. did you just get the car? you might be paranoid like i was

Your right about spending that much at Jiffy Lube lol. I dont think its an CIA on it. Do you recommand I get one put on? I had the car for almost a year and it runs pretty good besides that noise I hear. If you like I can record a short video clip from my cellphone and send it to you via gmail so you can hear exactly what im talking about. Your right I could just be paranoid, but I swear I never heard the sound before. I brought the car used back in febuary and its under the dealers warranty still for about another 25,000 miles.

I'm willing to bet the sound has something to do with your needing engine mounts. either that or something is loose in the dash or behind the gauges. Does it make the sound only when the engine is running cold or all the time?

well that seems to be the issue, and it explains why your hear it when you accelerate or on a hill. thats because there is too much engine movement. the mounts are about 70 bucks a pop

$400 seems a little steep. But then so does $41 at Jiffy Lube.

I wouldn't take anything to Jiffy Lube if they paid ME $41.

Judging by the lack of knowledge on what a CAI (cold air intake) is, I am going to assume that you have never tried to do much work on the car yourself.

Engine mounts from acuraautomotiveparts.org are $67 + $56. If this guy is charging you $400 to do just those two mounts, you might as well hand him some vasoline cuz he is screwing you big time.

That's why most people do their own work, it's not that hard, just takes a little time.
