Headlight reflector

I'm going to get a set of new headlights and have them painted gunmetal. I want to get rid of the orange reflector in the corner. Is there a place that I can get a clear one or is everyone just taking it out and not putting anything?

mine has nothing... i replaced it with an led, but then again i don't even use them anymore, i did the headlight mod where the only lights on are the lows+fogs, which is superrrrr clean

the only ppl with the clear diffuser are the ones who bought their blacked out headlights from ebay

don't forget to replace the bulb with an LED or a chrome amber bulb, otherwise it'll look a bit ridiculous

Are the LEDs as bright as the chrome bulbs

I took my lights apart and took out that Amber Marker and put in some LEDs. Love the look. Stupid DOT laws in the US that make us have Amber Markers.

There are clear diffusers available but their really rare. Haven't seen one for sale since I joined the site. Switchbacks are a nice alternative though to the amber bulbs.

So with switch backs is it clear when your driving and then when you turn on the signal it turns amber?

I know that the chrome bulbs will light up a amber color when used

Question: I have a 2001 tl and have problems removing the Diffuser
You think its possible if I can drill out the diffuser?
I tried removing it with my finger but ended up breaking half of the chrome headlight...

Yes. And then when you turn off the signal it reverts to the clear led again.

When you have it open, get some Duplicolor shadow paint and paint the chrome with it, it will be a black chrome finish, paint the orange reflector with a couple coats as well to hide the orange.

I was going to have either jnc or acktl05 do it for me with a gunmetal color and remove the orange reflector.

With the paint your talking about using would it be black or more of a gunmetal color

With the switch backs do you have to do any extra wiring to get it switch back and forth or do you just plug and play and it does itself?

the switchbacks work themselves, no extra wiring. resistors or a different fuse is needed though.

also, if you get ur headlights done by JNC, get them colormatched rather than gunmetal.... IMO colormatched is so much better

Thanks, I tried Sending a pm to jnc three times but he never gets back to me so I am going to have acktl05 do them for me. I have seen the gunmetal that he does in person and it is pretty close to the color of my car

I would paint them body color and not gunmetal. Have him spray them your body color. You can get it in a spray can from most auto paints stores and places online.

Neither, it would be like black chrome.
