headlight randomly turns off...

I have 165000 miles on my '99 and the original headlight parts (I did replace the bulbs recently). I have noticed that my passenger light will randomly turn off when I am driving. if I turn the lights off and back on it will turn back on like normal. It does not really seem to be based off of bumps or vibration - it is really random. when I turn them on the light is strong and quick, so I do not know what part it could be. connection, ignitor, ballast?

I have not had time to check on everything. I was wondering if anyone had experience with our headlights and could recommend an easy fix or check? it is not that big of a deal now since it is summer and I hardly ever need my lights but I need to get it fixed before winter
thanks

Hard to test if only occurring randomly. Best idea is to switch components between sides and see if it happens on the new side. Personally, I would first switch the ballasts and see if it starts happening on the driver's side. PITA since you have to remove the bumper to get to the headlights, but that's the way it is.

I recently had the same problem. It was a bad wire that connected the headlight. My mechanic replaced it for about $20. Problem solved.

most likely just a bad connection between
your socket and plug...this started happening
after you replaced your bulbs..go back and make
sure everything is plugged in tight..

Check for moisture in the headlight, i pulled the rubber ring off the back of the hid bulb to let it evaporate, if thats not the problem it may be the ballast. i have experienced a bllast that would cut on/off and replaced them with a set recommended by this site for about $80 including bulbs.
