have you checked the bulbs by swapping left to right sides?
And is there moisture inside the lens of the housing?- that will drip down and kill ballast

Try that and see if it does anything.

Yea. I think the newer ballasts like my 02 have a rubber gasket around the connector to keep water out. I had one headlight out and had to pull the bumper off and flip flop ballasts/igniters/headlights from each side until I figured out the problem component.

My problem turned out to be one igniter only, so I just bought a used one off of ebay. 6 months later I had some flickering in both, so I just decided screw it and bought a complete aftermarket HID kit from our sponsor for $54 shipped. Problem solved with new hardware and no more worrying about the next component to go out since the old all have 150k miles of use on them.

I am unaware of a repair for them, but I do know that its not recommended to open up the inverter because it stores alot of potential electricity that could shock the shit out of you (like a capacitor).

I used hidextra.com. They are one of our vendors. I believe the coupon code for $15 off should still be good: acurasp-m

Hey Sust Man,

Which HID kit did you get from HIDExtra.com and do you like it? I have an 02 TL S and my driver side low beam light is starting to flicker and cut off. I am thinking about just ordering a new set like you did.

Thanks,

D2R kit. 5000k bulb. Closest to stock, slightly more blueish, no sacrifice in visibility. You will get more and more blue/purple with bulbs higher than 5000k, but your visibility will diminish also.

Sust Man,

Thanks for the update. I actaully found out that my bulb was going bad and that was causing the flicker issue. I'll keep this link in mind just in case a ballast goes out. I was told and OEM ballast was just above $200!!!!!!!

Just buy the kit and use the bulbs from it. If your ballasts or igniters go out in the future then you have the aftermarket ones ready to go.

I too have the headlight issue. My driver side has water inside and stopped working. High beam does not work as well. I checked the fuse and it was broken. When i replaced it, High beam worked for a while (low beam HID still out) and then i heard some clicking noise from the fuse box and high beam stopped working again. I checked the fuse that I just replaced and it blew again. Any advice? My plan right now is to just buy a new HID kit (since most likely ignitor/ballast is the cause of the problem) and reseal the headlights. Help!

open up the headlight and reseal it. chances are water is gonna get inside again, causing you to have to spend more repairing bulbs/ballast/fuse. its a pretty easy task, theres plenty of DIYs on it.

i just did it. my headlight went out probably from moisture in the ballast. open up the headlight, cleaned it and dried, and it works again. you'll love how amazing it looks after...
