Headlight clearing tip
A tip for the use of silicone/RTV...you can smooth it out by spitting on your fingers first and then using your fingers to spread out the silicone. This works great and makes very neat work out of an otherwise messy job. The saliva will keep the silicone from adhering to your fingers, thus allowing you to smooth, spread, and shape the silicone the way you want. This way you can guarantee that when you reseal your headlights, there won't be any leakage from lack of sealant and that you will still get a good fit because there won't be any globs of silicone getting in the way. This also works for anything that you use silicone for.
Cool, thanks.
Question : Would you recommend putting extra silicon to insure complete sealing, and then wipe the excess ? Or would it be better to apply only the needed amount ? Im asking because Ive never worked hands-on with silicon. It dries clear, right ?

You can buy clear silicone, which will be clear when dry. Home Depot and those places sell the stuff. I would recommend putting extra to make sure you sealed it, then wiping the excess using the method I first described. Now when I say extra, I don't mean a whole ton, but don't be afraid to put down a good bead. Also, since you aren't familiar with it, I would suggest practicing on some other plastic items and getting a feel for smoothing it out and such. It is really quite easy to deal with once you are used to it, and it doesn't take long to get acquainted with it at all. Good luck!

I'm right there with you on that one. I just haven't had the time to do it. Hopefully the weather will be good on Sunday.

Tell you what, send the camera and I'll snap the pics
Hmm...I guess I should get a digital camera, huh? Well, let me get a camera first and then I'll do this mod, and post some pics for you, that is if you can wait...

Let me say, out of experience to be very careful. Even after you reassemble the headlight something may go wrong!! it happened to me so i just want to warn all of you out there. After i reassembled my headlight it looked great and then the next day i had what i thought was moisture behind the lens but it was worse than that!! So be careful. It was a 200 dollar problem to get fixed since i had to buy a whole new light housing. im sure my case is very unique, ive never seen it happen to anyone else before. but just be careful!

I dont know what caused this. Maybe it was the heat gun but i never heated the front of the lens??
I will clear the new light tonight after work. I just got it yesterday. There is a special torx wrench that i need to get in order to tranplant the HID bulb from the old housing to the new housing.
