headlight burnt

Hey,

Looking for some help with a burnt out lo-beam headlamp on a 2000 TL.

Can I replace the bulb and not the ballast? Where can I purchase one or both for a reasonable price? Canadian dealers are very expensive.

Thanks

RG

welcome to the forum
Lets make sure its bulb- was there a pinkish/purplish light when you turned them on recently? thats a death warning
Here is a place with killer sale right now- many of us are using these Kaixen 6000k bulbs- easier on the eyes and more things on the road show up
http://www.automotivelightingusa.com...oducts_id=1331

Also phillips 4300k are the stock ones and found on ebay at 85 per pair, buy brand new ones only- no used bulbs!!!
Dealer charges 200 per bulb

If you are not sure its bulb failure- swap them left to right
Search for complete directions- requires special torx #20 security screwdriver tip to remove access cover for bulbs- anti theft basically

Thanks for the helpful information.

Will I be taking my life in my hands doing the swap myself. I read that a bit of danger might be involved.

I didn't see any pinkish or purplish light - not to say that it wasn't there.

Its only noticable the first few seconds the lights are on and pointed at a wall so you would see them.
Our Moderator did his bulbs recenlty in 25 minutes for both sides- taking time for pics along the way!

Just as as I staked my reputation that they would-

it takes about 100 hours of use to get the color fully stablized- just reached that so now I can take pics.
I can state for certain that during a 30 minute run on the freeway with an 03TL,
he had more white light directly in front of the car but I could see farther down the road edge markings and superior at lighting reflecto paint on road and thoses white stripes on semi trucks jump out at you.

yes the reflective markers really stand out now. I was next to a CL-S last night and mine were brighter, and went further.

Bought a set of bulbs out of the US for 1/3 of the price at the dealer here in Canada. And I have a body shop guy going to install them.

Thanks for the help everyone. Great forum here. I will be back I am sure.

Lights are in and working fine. Thanks for all the help everyone. Bulbs were $115 for the pair - a steal.

Thanks again
