headers for 180$...not sure if it's legit

I found headers on ebay for180 dollars...not sure If I should trust it..It sounds like a good offer. But they say that your Required to Bend the Bottom Collector Slightly.. the dyno results are shown..what should I do...Would you trust it....If I choose not to go with this one....What other options do I have....for headers on a Type S

remember that you get what you pay for and at $180 and you have to bend them yourself... think about it and then buy something else don't waste anymore time on these, honestly you should be spending no less than $300 for a decent set of headers try the offtopic section of this site and do a search you should be able to find something

Things to consider (and they have been well-documented on the board)

1 - Resonance (that annoying drone at certain rpms)
2 - Weld cracks and leaks
3 - Poor fittment - leaks

As much as people bitch about the price, I've only heard a couple of peopel that have had problems with the Comptech headers.

Probably the AlphaWerks headers that had a fitment problem, and now they are dumping the problematic batch for cheap.

Pretty sure you don't have to "bend" anything. I think you're talking about these headers on eBay that have a bend in one of the pipes to fit the CL-S 6-speed... I've seen them before... Don't know anything about them though. As far as I know, only Comptech and Stone make headers for the 6-speed CL.

The original post says that the collector pipe has to be bent. The bend on the 6-speed model is on the header itself on the rear bank, which is totally different from the collector pipe.

I'm guessing it's the AlphaWerks headers. There was a bad batch not too long ago, and I was wondering what they would do with them. I guess they are selling them on eBay merely with a warning saying that the collector pipe has to be bent to fit.

Meh, I would pass.

Even the design looks shitty. The rear bank down pipe meets the front bank DP at a perpendicular angle, which is really bad fluid dynamics even to the eye of non-experts.

For comparison, check out the Comptech headers.

You can tell the rear bank down pipe is routed facing backwards for better flow. Plus the welds looks better.

Okay, so it's over a thousand bucks for Comptech headers. I had the same problem. So I went with OBX SS headers, and except for a hairline crack on one of the pipes, I haven't had any problems at all. And the crack isn't even all the way through, so there's no leak. Not bad for 300 bucks. And it's a better design than those headers in the auction with better welds. In fact, it's a near exact-replica of the Comptech headers.

My suggestion, wait for used Comptech headers, or buy OBX new/used.

thanks...I might have to check into the comptech...but how much hp does the OBX SS give compared to the comptech...I know comptech would cost more ....is there a big difference....maybe the reason why they cost so much is because your buying the name "COMPTECH HEADERS"

That and the quality. I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said that Comptech's quality is unsurpassed, as far as TL parts are concerned.

OBX copied the design off Comptech's. They give just about the same amount of power increase for about 1/3 of the price. Unfortunately, you also get 1/3 of the quality. But for me, it seemed right. I mean, my headers really haven't given me any trouble for the last 2 years or so that I have had them.

Kind of amazing that as many times as headers are discussed, people still think headers from different manufacturers produce different hp gains.

dont go for the headers that you linked.

i also have OBX SS. i had it on for about 40K miles, PLUS i bought them USED. so they have far more than 40K miles on them. and theyre running like the first day i got them. I havent had any problems on it and i still love the very noticeable gain.

you can check the black market on Other Forums of Azine, and there should be people selling used ones for $200 or less. I bought them from a member of the boards and got it for a good value. I suggest you go that route, or try Ebay. they should have some Obx headers there too
