Having the windshield replaced in my 2001 TL
Hey guys, I had something fly into the windshield on the highway earlier this month and the small crack that started near the rear view mirror is now almost completely across the windshield. Amazing what a high-temp day does to stress things.
Anyways, I am having the windshield replaced later this week, but I am wondering if I should be calling and requesting a specific brand of windshield?
As it stands I do not know if the APTech OEM "brand" glass is available anymore?
I also read on here that AGC is another OEM glass?
Turns out that the insurance company contracts with Safelite. I have had windshields in my Lincolns replaced with OEM glass for noise control by them with good results, just wondering how I should approach this with the Acura?
Thanks in advance for any help in making sure I get a "good" windshield.

Actually, the company is Glass USA. I will be calling tomorrow and asking.
Per what I was told by my agent (who is a close, personal friend, so no lip service) who stated that he has never heard a single complaint from hundreds of customers he referred to them is that they only use OEM-quality glass.

Around here (southeastern Wisconsin), cost is roughly $375-400 range.
I ended up with a XYG windshield. In researching them I guess Plinkington (sp?) made demands of XYG and they started producing the quality that the well-known and respected Plinkington required, so they are now a premium OEM-quality offering.
The company that did the changeout on my car is well respected and said they never have quality issues with these. I can attest that it looks perfectly clear, I can't tell any distortions, and noise-wise it seems as quiet as it was before the windshield was replaced.
