It's really annoying when I tell people I have an 03 TL and they think it looks the same as the 99-01's... Honestly I wish the 99-01's never existed and they always had the styling of 02-03's, the older ones are oooooguly(lets make them a seperate generation, please? :-) ). MY APPOLOGIES TO THE 99-01 OWNERS, JUST AN OPINION

 

without the 99-01 the 03 would not have existed! Not sure I understand your complaint - what are you trying to say??? the body style (just talking about the body style) of the 03 is not that big of a switch compared to the 99-01 - front end is different - to most people (not into cars) it is the samething.... Now the 04+ owners have a lot more to say with regards to the 2nd gen. that's were there is a really big difference!

good thing the USDM ones didn't come w/ them or else it would be harder for them to distinguish!!
JDM ones have the foglights in the bumper...those look nice!

Anyway, I saw a huge difference...so much so that I sold my 01 as quick as possible just to get an 03 type-S. And adding to that, the type-s seats are awesome.

whats slightly bigger? the car? the car is the exact same size, the headlights are bigger if thats what you tried to say

I prefer the 02-03 front end and taillights but I think the 99-01's are classy, elegant cars, as well.

The 02-03 looks much meaner and the clear headlights look better. It was the prelude to the angular design of the 04+

 

To be honest, 99-01 TL compare to 02-03 is almost like comparing the 528i to 530i, same car but slightly different headlight and taillight and foglight makes the car look completely meaner.

I hate the look of 99-01 TL, I also hate 528i, well i guess i'm superficial

I am agree. There is slight styling difference between the 99-01 and 02-03 as far at the front and rear ends go. But calling a 99-01 ugly is just uncalled for. I like my 01 very much. You some serious issues!

Whatever happened to brand loyalty??? Whether 99-01 or 02-03, the TL is one fine automobile in all respects. Take pride in your heritage and consider yourself very fortunate to have an '03 that many covet for its tailights, fogs, large clear headlights, and many other goodies.

 

damn, i think the 99-01 look better. i don't like the larger grill and bigger A at all and hood looks pretty much the same.

 

oh and the 02-03 tl-p rims look ooooogggllyyy.

For people who don't own the car, it is easy to miss the subtle differences. I didn't even know there was a difference (I drive a first gen) until you said so. All I knew was the TLP TLS thing.

 

What's really annoying, is when you come to this forum looking to support another member's common interest, and end up reading a pointless post about someone wanting to separate us. I check this site multiple times a day hoping to see someone with a new mod or addition to their car, and while I don't have the money to get the body kit/rims/suspension I want, I am excited for these people. I joined this site to become part of a family and learn some things, I am pretty sure the rest of you did the same.
