WHOA. I am surprise to see so many of you have problems with your transmission. Those who answer "Yes" in the poll, would you say you drive you car pretty hard??

now that i got my intake, i drive my car hard all the time. hard enough to run through gas like no other. my trip odometer says like a little under 200 after my last fillup. that was almost an entire tank (just above E)

i dont know i guess its my first experience with an acura

At around 21,000 miles, they took mine out and replaced it cause one day it just stopped working....every posoition on the stick was neuteral (even park wasn't park).
They called acura and and acura told them not even to try and fix it, just totaly take out the Trany and put a new one in and send the bad one off to Acura so they could look at it.
They had to order the Trany but I had my car back 3 days from when it happened...

Automakers have the choice of building in smoothness at the expense of responsiveness. A highly responsive and quick shifting automatic may feel rough. Basically, it is a compromise.

torque converter

Anyobody read their manual yet? The car's torque converter will be locking and unlocking at lower speeds. it will feel like the gear is shifting, but it's not. that's why it's a smooth shift between 3-4 and 4-5.

Any of you guys notice there is some noise coming from the tranny when it's in drive gear at very slow speed (under 10 mile)or still? It's not loud and only when it's next to a wall or other car, then the noise can easily be heard. It sounds like clinking.

I wouldn't say I drive my car hard. At least not any harder than I have driven any other car, none of which have ever given me tranny trouble.

My TLS w/ only 9500 miles on it is currently in the shop for a new transmission. You can see my post entitled "Type S...Should be type P.O.S." in the TL-S forum.
