Has anyone tried those new mobil 1 synthetic oils?

They now have the 5,000, 7,500, or the 15,000 mile synthetic blend oils. I was wondering if anyone used it yet on our cars?

Until I see definitive results

15K oil = penny wise....pound foolish.

Like other's I'm waiting for some UOA's on these oils and then I'll consider using them. FWIW, regular Mobil Synthetic can easily go on 7500+ mile OCI's, so part of me is thinking that this is just a marketing ploy.

i use mobile 1 on both my car and my sisters car and change the oil about 3500-4000 miles. so you don't have to change the oil all the way up to 15000 miles? but when i change my sisters oil in the gs 300 the oil is really black, doesn't that mean it needs changing?

changing oil that often is a waste of $$$ if your using syn. color doesnt mean its bad. the best way to find out is to get a sample of it and send it to blacksone labs for testing. you can get a free sample test kit from them and then send it to them and have it tested. make sure you get the TBN test, that will let you know how much life is left. mine has always been fine when i test it at my 10k change interval

I never take any chances... so I always try and change mine every 3K. On rare occasions I've let it go to 5K, which I smack myself for.... but I'm usually very good about doing it between 2800-3200 miles. I think thats one of the most important things you can do to a car.

If you're using regular oil, that's a good practice.

Yep I sure am. On another note... I hear its not good if you keep switching between synthetic and regular. Is there any truth in that? I plan on staying with regular oil anyways, but I'm just curious.

that is a big time waste of money, even with regular oils, 5000 miles isnt bad at all
