Harsh shifting?
Harsh shifting?
Hey guys..i have a 99 TL and lately i've noticed its shifting kinda harsh between 1st and 2nd gear. All the other gears are perfectly fine, they shift nicely and smoothly. Has anyone noticed this on their car? And you guys think it will be a major problem?

Tell me more about flushing. I've been contemplating on having that done and hope it improves shifting. What do you need terms of parts (filter, gasket, ATF brand/grade)? Is there a flush kit available? Does this require dealer service?
Though I bought my '99TL used (38K) 3mos ago, I've noticed shifting from 1st-2nd a bit hard sometimes compared to other cars that I've driven (I30, ES300). I brought it to the attention of the dealer and the serviceperson said "...that's quite normal. The computer on these cars depend on sensors that dictate the right gear." Nevertheless, I'm hoping that a regimen of flushing would prevent an untimely demise of the tranny.

I didn't have time to do it properly so what the mechanic did was just drain and refilled it. I think the proper way is to drain, drive a bit and further drain more...fill up again, drive, drain and then refill till the color comes out Red. Does this sound correct. Plus you have to get the fluid from Acura because apparently you're not supposed to use Dexron III as a long term tranny fluid.
Hope this is accurate and helps you.
