hard time getting front engine mount out

im having problems getting the mount bracket off the top of the mount...its just not clearing the hole on the top of the mount. i am jacking up the engine, but it still isn't clearing, and all it's doing as i continue to jack it up, is lift up the entire car. any ideas?

well... couldn't remove the one bolt on the mount because i didn't have the universal joint. so i'll try it once more tomorrow. is there any easier way to remove the bolt on the mount bracket that's on the engine? it's so hard to reach.

HAHA. I just changed my front motor mount a couple months ago. I know exactly which bolt you're talking about. You should have seen the contraption my dad and I made to get it out. Wrench to extension to universal joint to another extension to socket. it was like a foot and a half long. (thats what she said)

Also...we didn't have to loosen the side motor mount at all.

Hopefully you did not damage something.
For details you can search my posts, but keep in mind that you MUST remove all 3 mount bracket bolts as well. You MUST remove mount and the bracket together.
That is the proper procedure. I doubt that the mount even can be removed (without damaging something) without removing the bracket.
Also remove exhaust heat shield (three small bolts only) and use long extension so that you can reach from above that fourth mount bolt seemingly impossible to reach from above.
When assembling, do put the mount and the bracket together in place first and only then start putting bolts.

you can take out that bracket above the mount. or you can take out the 4 14mm nuts that are in the cradle for the trans and take out the passenger side bolt for the motor mount and put a jack under the motor and lift the engine and trans up off the cradle to get the mount out.
