damnit.

my gate shift mod didn't work

wanted to chrome it.

i put the gate shifter in graffiti remover for half an hour.

brought it out and it looked like crap.

i held it with rubber gloves and the finger print pattern on the rubber glove started showing up on the plastic gate shifter. the graffiti remover was so strong it was mushing up the outer layer of the plastic. so my job now is to sand it, prime it, and spray paint it.

i've been searching and looking and searching, but I can't find what i'm looking for.

can anybody help me in the steps on how to exactly sand (grade/grit types), the method to prime the plastic to welcome the paint better, and the best (oil-based) spray paint to use to bring about a terrific shine in the plastic.

ALSO, the gate shifter has reduced in size and will probably reduce in size a bit more due to sanding. hopefully the prime/paint will thicken up the look of the gate shifter, but can anyone recommend me something i can put in around the perimeter of the gateshifter so it fits snuggly against the gate shifter plate?

{sorry, i can't post pics as of yet}

lol my friend has a 99TL.. i'm gonna go get his shift plate from him hahahaha.. he isn't into this hardcore modding so he wouldn't care... plus when he got the car. he got it off some chinese guy that put 02-03 taillights, the same aftermarket deck that Kris has (fttysm1), wood cluster, wood shifter knob.

HEHEHE can't wait. i never knew it was this easy.. :P
