H&R Springs

I know this has been covered before but I couldn't find the topic so sorry for asking again. Does H&R Springs need new shocks for my new TL Type S ? or is it like Comtech Springs that doesn't need any new shocks just new alignment
thx.

Neither one needs new shocks. When we are talking "need" I'm guessing we mean that it's required for the other product to work. The shocks on the TLS have a higher damper rate, so it already has a sporty feel. When you lower the car, the shocks work about twice as hard. That means they will wear out faster. I have H&R and they are great. Is recomended that you align your car after you lower it with aftermarket springs, that is only done to get a longer tire life. Alignment can not adjust the rear camber, so depeding how much you lower your car, 2.5" or more a camber kit might be needed. The front camber can be adjusted with an alignment up a degree, usually enough to handle a 1.5" to 2" drop. If you want to make your car stiffer then get new adjustable shocks, otherwise keep the ones you have for now, again new shocks are not "needed" for new lower springs.

Thanks for the reply... I was thinking of getting H&R sport Springs which lower the car by 1.75" in front and 1.75" in the rear plus I have OEM kits..

For our car...is wheel alignment possible on all 4 wheels, or only on the front 2?

Just wondering, does it matter where you get your springs installed? The local deler quoted me $220.00 and a local custom shop quoted me $150.00. I know that the dealer offers a warranty. Which should I choose? AcuraFan how was the qulity of your install?

warranty? until they blame it on the springs! pullease...

spring install is straightforward...spring compressor and install. big deal..they just charge more to cover the overhead of the entire dealership.

just go to a reputable mechanic or tuner shop...

As for most of the folks in this forum, they would most likely recommend the comptech springs...

I have a friend that will do the install for only $60... he's a Honda/Acura Certified technician, and has all the tools needed for the job... including the spring compressor...

Let me know if you're interested... he just installed my comptech springs last weekend and they're great!

I don't know i can tell how great the quality of my installation was...but i can tell you that they did a great job...gave them the car for 2 hours and they were done... I gave it to one of those "Rice Rocket" fix up shops...at first i was scared because i didn't know what they were gonna do to my car, but my friend recommeded them to me. But when i got the car back, the car looks lower then i anticipated. I got the H&R sport springs (1.75 and 1.5) but when i compared with my mom's 99 TL, it seems like 2.5-3 inches. I love the springs

I had the same choice when I bought my springs over a year ago. I chose the Neuspeeds and don't regret it a bit. I love the drop and the ride is still very smooth. I'd say get the Neuspeeds and use the money you'd save towards something else.
