I'm confused though... I thought they were a 3-piece rim but the box the center pieces came in says 2-piece. Theres also a piece of paper but its all in Japanese - I'll have the homie at work translate it tomorrow.

So what makes up a 3-piece rim? I thought it was the lip, welded to the hub, with the center piece bolt on? Here are pics:

------------------
2001 Silver TL, non-navi, Inspire tails & wood steering wheel, 2 burlwood dash kits & shift knob, TL-S passenger vent trim, Alumapro BP-10 & ZX400TI Phoenix Gold, Python 1500 ESP (remote start, all windows up & down, sunroof closes, prox, etc), factory spoiler & body kit, AEM SRI, blue alarm LEDs, Mugen grill, Comptech sways, springs & exhaust, SuperCrystal lugs, black chrome emblems, Apex'i V-AFC, Solaris 9005 high beams, 19"x8.0" +47 Alstadt IVs.

On order: 225/35ZR19 Nitto 555s.

Can't wait to put them on!! But I don't have the rubber yet... Have to wait for my tax return to come. I filed electronically and its been a long time since it was accepted, the money should appear in my bank account any minute!

I'll probably go with the 235/35ZR19. Not sure what brand... tirerack says there are 3 companies that make this size:

Pirelli P7000 (rated YR)
Continental ContiSport Contact (rated ZR)
Yokohama AVS Sport (rated YR)

What do you guys think?

Had to wait 8 weeks because they were imported from Japan - the only place you can get them. But it was worth the wait... these babies are really going to make my car. I'm almost to where I'm going to stop modding, probably by the end of April (still have the Apex'i V-AFC install, headers, rotors, brake pads... visor monitors might make me spill into May's paychecks... ).

CAUSE I LIKE BIG PICS!

I'm thinking I'll go with the Yokohama AVS Sport 235/35YR19s. They get really good reviews from tirerack.com. But damned they are expensive at $245 per tire ($980 for all 4!)... ouchy!

TL Daddy, well I put them on my crappy scale and it read 22.5 pounds... granted its a really crappy scale... I'll see if I can't find a better one.

Forget about the tax return Nate. Go for instant gratification offered by those credit cards. Get the tires and show us the pics.

It's cool - I just mean you're lucky to find a rim that size with light weight. Even my alloy 18s are 26 lbs. I notice it accelerating from a stop, just barely slower - but not hiway speeds. The effect is worth it - that TL is gonna stand out now

Very sweet Nate!!!!

3-piece wheels consist of 2 pieces welded together to make the outer rim and the center piece bolted on. Just like your pics of the weld...that's two pieces welded together!

22.5#'s is hard to believe for chromed 19". My 18x7.5 3-piece 5-zigens weighs 22#'s, and I thought that was good!

Gee, I still don't get. I am brand new to this whole thing. Just a 02 TL, few days ago. Worked hard for it and loving it.
I am thinking about lower the car and get new wheels, but just have no clue whats so ever. b/c the gap is too big, i think.
Any info or help would be appreciated.
By the way, thanks for the link Nate.

Me either!

1999TL, its US Chrome - what kind is yours on your Alstadt IIIs? Mine is quite bling bling, just that the digicam wasn't picking it up. Need to take a pic in daylight, I'll try tomorrow, though my AA batteries are dying for my cam. My NiMHs should arrive tomorrow!

Here we go, weren't ya listening when I said this give me a headache?

Because:

1) US Chrome was more money
2) The company I got the rims from recommended US Chrome
3) Chrome is chrome

I already got the rims so theres no point...

They look like Jap chrome to me.... Actually, Mike, your wheels look like US chrome and these look like Jap chrome. Think yall got it reversed... Jap chrome has a kinda blackish shine to it, and that is what i see in Nates pics. Nice ass wheels Nate!! Kinda like BSD and MAE put together huh? Good job, now put them badboys on!!!

Slammin wheels Nate! Don't you want tires soooooo bad now? When I ordered my wheels I thought I could wait a while for tires and I was going crazy so I ordered Kumho Supras yesterday. I'll have my wheels on Saturday. Good luck.
