Good lord Kris. Have fun man. I can't wait till I have the kind of mod experience and money to do this stuff to my TL. I love the TL. I don't think I'll ever move on from a second gen...

what kind of power will you be putting to the wheels with that setup? how bout some ideas at 1/4 times, good luck as always, cant wait to see when finished. I personally think you should try and put a CL front clip on your car.

You will dyno it after this mod, I'm sure?

As far as what little car knowledge I have goes, a S/C would still be compatible with this set up, correct?

Mark, get off AZ and get your @$$ to class!

Hey Kris, would the new 3.7 MDX crank fit? The bore is 90 mm, as opposed to our 89 mm, but you could overbore it. That is, if the crank is compatible (and easy to get).

you cant just throw them in to make it DOHC. the heads have to be designed for it

id be willing to bet it would fit just fine. try finding one for cheap though.

maybe???? A SC would still be possible but i would have to change parts up a little inside. The compression ratio as i plan on doing it would be too high for boost

Stroking your toy!

Sounds like fun.

Have you eve thought of hooking up with the boys at the Science of Speed in Phoenix? They are some serious NSX folks. They've stroked some NSX blocks to make a mountain motor 3.8L. Perhaps they could come up with a spare engine for you. There have been a couple of ebay auctions for 3.0s really cheap, like $5K. I almost bought one as a spare a while back. It was a police siezure.

I will be curious to see how the engine computer handles the extra displacement? I stroked an old Camaro Z28 engine and the system just couldn't keep up. I would have needed larger injectors and a different eeprom to compensate. This was an old Bosch L-jetronic based system, though. I'd like to hope a modern Honda PFI would be better.

Im sure i could get more displacement/power out of it if i went all out. Buti dont want to stick that much into it.
The ecu will do just fine. I mean after all its only going up .3 and the cl guys havent had any issues

I suppose it is a moot point if you do not S/C the car, but would a CL-S motor, modified to have 3.5L's of displacement, plus headers and a blower be bordering on too much power for a fwd, nose heavy car to functionally use?

I went from a 5.0 to about 5.5, which is about 10%. About the same as you're doing. As I said, it was the original 1st generation L-jetronic system, circa 1985.

The SoS guys sell their replacement 3.8 for the NSX, either original 3.0 or 3.2. Going to a 3.8 from 3.0 is almost 25% more displacement, and I believe needs the aftermarket ECU.

I haven't spent any time on the CL side of the forums. Its good to know that hot rodding is alive and well.

wow...interesting .....

Highest compression would be using the rl pistons however if you want a set of CL-S pistons which you could use ...let me know, You can have the set I have that won't be used. Good luck.

ps ..my car will still be faster.

What is better about the CL-S pistons over the TL-S pistons or any other pistons? Because I even saw in the black market a 3.5 liter block where the owner swapped the MDX pistons for CL-S pistons.

well ...Cl-S and TL-S pistons are the same as they share the same exact motor for the most part so neither one is better between those two. The Rl pistons with the Type S would yield like 11 something compression ratio. I forgot what it was exactly, but Clean CL has that setup and Serge(02av6) had that setup before but for the life of me I can't remember the compression ratio.

and i though i took a big step today by doing my coilovers alone
