I'm finding that the Grade Logic feature of the transmission is engaging when I try to coast on level ground. Anyone else had this? I just got my car last week and it has ~500miles on it.

 

I have this problem too.. happens almost every morning I pull out of my driveway and go over the first speed bump. Just gotta learn to live with it, I guess.

 

Grade Logic? I don't even think mine works anymore... Stupid car cant even downshift into first or second at 5mph when slowing down in traffic... It stays in third! Do you know how annoying that is to be in third and have to jam on the accelerator to downshift? By that time, the car in front of you has already slowed down. Even going up hill, the car won't downshift when I'm accelerating unless I punch it. When I got an 03 as a loaner, I kinda liked the fact that it downshifted so easily.

I have had this problem with my 2003 TL-S since I got it. Almost every morning, it will briefly shift from 5th to 4th and back to 5th at about 60-70 mph. It used to happen after a long downward slope, but now it sometimes occurs on flat ground too. The quick shift sends a shudder through the car which is quite annoying. Although I take the exact same route at roughly the same speed every workday, it will sometimes not do it, do it once (most of the time), or sometimes more than one (the most was four times in a span of 5 miles of freeway). I took it into the dealer and they claimed that this was normal.

Now I wonder, is this all TL transmissions, or just the new (and improved?) ones like the one in my TL?
