Yes Dude...that's the new "umber" interior. And that is the only way I'd consider getting the 4G TL...manual tranny (coming soon)...in Mayan Bronze with Umber interior...only problem...I wouldn't pay the $40+ asking price...I'd have to wait for it to be a few years old and pick it up under 30K. Maybe??!

strictly opinion.

prices are only set by how much money the shop can and wants to charge.

if you think handing over 5k to somebody means they're gonna give you a factory-like paint job your'e crazy.

Research and examples are the only key here.. you find reviews on the place... ask to see cars they have painted.. talk to the owners.

the shop i get my paint work done at is very reputable and gets most of their work subbed to them from Dealerships on brand new vehicles.. i can promise they would never charge over 3500 for an entire job.

good people, good painters, good prices.

theres no such thing as a set amount of money you need to pay for a good job. just good painters and the products they use.

at the same time, i dont recommend jumping right into a full paint job thats under 2500-3k without some extensive research...

I agree with that...with price comes quality...but some realize that depending on the type of work available...you may have to up quantity a little to keep the work affordable for the masses.

I will NEVER again pay $400 for a single stage paintjob for an entire car though...lol...my 97 accord hated me for it.

When the first shop told u thay they had no cars finished outside and no cars being worked on, I think that's a sign to stay away.

But what's the point if you only get 55 miles outta it? N u gotta charge it for 16 hours? I'd stick with the cheaper Elise even if it does get beat o n the straight-away...

you get 250 miles out of it, and it charges in 1 hour. has a top speed of 120 and 0-60 is under 4 seconds.

^you only get 250 out of it if you're not hooning like jeremy clarkson did on top gear

and honestly, how fun is a car unless it's a Tl OR you are indeed hooning like jeremy clarkson? :-)

what shitty customer service, I'm surprised you didn't do something about the text you got.I can't even imagine someone sending that to a customer, that just stupid of him.

As far as the paint goes, the original price you got was fair. The only way you're getting a whole car painted for anywhere near 1k, is by having it sprayed with some single stage or no name basecoat/clearcoat, and having everything masked instead of taken off. In other words, a maaco/earl scheib paint job.
slowaccord had it right, any $1200 complete paint job is not going to impress anyone, unless that someone has no idea what they're talking about.
As another member said, auto body/paint gets expensive because removing and installing trim, handles, bumpers, mirrors etc, is time consuming, (which is all behind the scenes, so you don't see that work going into your car),so is a good prep job, and because painting a car AND making it look like it's factory paint is not easy, and you're paying for the painters skill.
Sounds like your car got taken care of though.

Phee - If I were you I'd have a friendly chat with your insurance adjuster and warn him about the unethical and inappropriate practices that the first body shop was trying to use on you (padding the insurance estimates to try and cover your deductible - that's a felony btw- then treating you like crap and trying to pressure you - then actually sending you a text insulting you like that...)

Customer Service is a huge deal in my life - treat people the way you would like to be treated - no bs - no threats - no insults - I would go out of my way to make that ahole's business practices well known so he doesn't screw other people.

rant off.

Nice pics from the other shop though - glad it worked out well.

The irony is that im in customer service too! i already did my part. posted reviews about him and his shop on every site i found. not to mention i used a little SEO in my posts so that people will find this thread when they search for his shop on google.
