a good paintjob cost several thousand. (4-5k) i dont think anyone will do an impressive job for 1200. especially in autobody, you get what you pay for.

i would say its roughly average or maybe a little below average depending on what type of quality the body shop presents. I've noticed there is a HUGE spectrum when its comes to quality in the bodyshop world. I say get a recomendation from someone who has had work performed at the shop first and then decide if its worth it

The shop was actually recommended by a member here. His car looks immaculate after his paint job was done about a year ago. They do good work

well when you are just painting a few panels like that, its hard because they have to color match it, going by the color code will not do because the paint is faded and what not. A decent paint job is the 1200 but a good factory type paint will be way up there. If you are iffy about a shop, just ask to look at some of their other works for the same price range and that will help. I took an previous car I had to get repainted at a shop and looked at their work, shitty, so I took it to another shop and looked at theirs and was happy, got my car back looking dope. Best thing to do is just call around and if you get a good price, go check out their work.

IMO id just save up more money to get the whole car painted. once you see the front half done fresh youll just wish you did the rear. visit different body shops and see what they charge. just ask to see their work before you make your decision. a friend of mine got one side of his car done and he regretted not gettin the whole thing at once.

The paint is gonna look newer obviously, and will a stand out just a tad different than the rest of the car. I mean not that noticeable, but you'll be able to tell unless you repaint the entire car

If its a good shop you will never know. There is no need to repaint the whole car unless your paint looks like shit to begin with.

I think that's a fair price as stated by slowaccord. There is a lot involved in doing separate panels to make sure every thing matches

A good part of the cost of a great paint job is the prep work in masking and/or removing trim. Not really appreciated cause you can't see the labor.

heres a couple of facts

My paint isnt in bad condition (nothing i can repair with my porter cable)

The side of the car is being paid by my insurance company because a dog in the neighborhood scratched up and chewed on different parts

i called the body shop today and asked to see some of their work he replied

"well all of the stuff we have painted is gone after we finish so we dont have any cars in the shop, i dont think you want to look at a bunch of our pictures though."
then he continued with
"if you dont feel comfortable using our shop then by all means go somewhere else, im trying to help you out by covering your deduc."

He might have been insulted...if you're going through insurance, he knows the work has to be good. If not, just take it back till they get it right.

Sounds like his interest in your deductible is greater than his interest in seeing you comfortable and satisfied with the work.

I'd check shops that would let me walk through their project areas.

both very valid points.

but i wouldnt be insulted if someone asked to see my work. i would be proud to show it to them

but ill check out the shop when i bring the car today, if its not to my liking then ill walk.

Phee, if its not being done by a friend, I think it's a good deal. I've been told the painting is the so called easy part, the hardest and most time consuming part is the prep.

Good luck with that guy, I would have already walked if that was me. I dont like it when people talk/email like that.

"if you dont feel comfortable using our shop then by all means go somewhere else, im trying to help you out by covering your deduc."

Ive had many cars painted or had parts painted and had no shops have a problem showing me their work. Its hard to believe he has no finished cars laying around unless its a small shop that doesnt get much work, if that is the case, should've went elsewhere anyways. Supplies is about 200 so he is charging you 1000 for labor, to be a dick. he is losing 1000 to poor customer service skills if you walk, but it doesnt sound like you are. Sorry, I hate poor cs skills, its a pet peeve of me.

update: i found a new shop that was recommended by the guy with whom i buy cars from.

i decided to check the shop out and boy was i surprised. these guys had a real bay, oven, and a ton of classic cars and a tesla roadster sitting out front.

i figured" hella expensive"

me and the guy get to talking and hes a honda guy and turns out we have a bunch of mutual friends. needless to say, i got the hookup of a lifetime. i cant publish the price but i will say it is cheap and this guys work speaks volumes!!!

Do not use circle truck painting and collision in atlanta

so i called the first body shop that i was talking about and told them that i decided to go with someone else. he replies

he replies "ok cool"

a couple hours later i recieve a text from him (Alex Lopez) that reads:
"From the 2nd u came over i knew you were prob a cheap fuck when i saw sprycan on your car. We prob don do like to do business with ppl like u. Goodluck finding somewhere good and cheap"

Apparently having spray painted temporary wheels merits me being a cheap fuck ( i now have new wheels BTW)

It also means that they can provide poor service to me because i must not have the monetary importance to such a high caliber business that they run.

they are definitely not recommended.

definitely not.

If i wanted good work done. i would call prime collision in marietta. ill update with pictures after the work is complete.

Screw Circle. Their loss, they're just sore about it. get it painted at the second shop where it sounds like there is a small chance you will be disappointed. Good luck with the repaint.

heres the tesla that prime collision was painting

The owner (rick) said that it was damaged during shipping. he had to custom blend the paint because these cars have no paint codes

im sure the owner will be satisfied

youd think he would work on his communication and customer service skills. especially with the way the economy is. oh well.

Dont do it

that's ridiculous.. i just sprayed my car along with the help of someone very talented and the house of kolor paint and pearls along with the clearcoat, reducer, activator, and materials barely ran me 800. Total cost to spray the car and fix every single imperfection.. $1,000. Sure we did the work ourselves and im sure you arent going to spend stupid money on that kind of paint like I did, but that just gives you an idea of how much they're trying to rip you off.

EDIT: just read that you already found a place.. good luck

Hi phee :

Glad you dodged that bullet !! Another way I've found good body shops is to ask the dealership who does their repairs. Not all the dealerships have body shops and the provided shop will be in all likelihood very experienced, as they have probably painted and fixed hundreds of our cars.

I would have just replied with "Thank you Mr. Lopez...your words of encouragement are greatly appreciated. I will keep you posted on where I did end up getting it done and how 'cheap' it ended up being".

Worst part is most people wouldn't bother letting the other guy know you went elsewhere...very standup of you and that's why you got the hookup now! Great job!

See how much the new dude will charge you to paint the whole car including jams the new Mayan Bronze...PLEASE!?!? FOR ME!!! Lol...I just love that color.

thank god you left, as I said before, if he provides you with crap customer service then what makes you think he cares about your car to provide you that flare. Being old and all, Ive seen a lot of shops to say that if they arent sincere then its better to find someone who cares about WHAT YOU WANT! Refusing to show you his work and being offended is a clear sign of a shady shop. Glad you found that shop, anybody who trusts their shop with a Tesla gets a thumps up from me! Dont forget to post before and after pics bro
