Exclamation got my sub/speakers put in!

i know this is supposed to go in the audio forum, but hey. finally got rid of the low grade stock Bose stereo system in my baby. i put 6 1/2 Boston Acoustics in each door, tweeters, and got a 12" Kenwood sub in the trunk. sounds great, i get highs and the bass kicks a**. i'm very satisfied with the setup. just expressing my joy

What kind of amp are you using to drive the 12" sub? Did you install a 4 channel amp for your door speakers or are you using the factory one? I had an Intregra with 2 12" subs and the quality of the bass was excellent but I'm really skeptical if our trunk will produce good quality bass. Hatchbacks in my opinion are the best candidates for subs.

Did you keep the same head unit. Were the tweeters built in to the door speakers or did you mount those separately? The bose system doesn't sound good at all. Ifeel speaker placement is everything and I wonder if bose would just have placed the speakers on the dash what a difference that would have made.. If you replaced the head unit, tell me what you bought and is the head unit in there now an alpine, pioneer or what?? Enjoy your tunes!

the sub is self-amplified, and about the amp, i used the factory one because the guy that did the job, said the amp that i had wasn't going to make a difference...so i kept the factory one. and about the bass, it sounds great...i didn't want those systems that you can hear 2 miles away, just something that sounds good.

yea i kept the original head unit...i didn't want to change anything to aftermarket...especially the head unit. i think any aftermarket head unit would look out of place. about the tweeters, i told the guy to install them on the A-pillars on the little black triangular piece between the A-pillar and the window.
