Got Hit
So i was driving with a bunch of friends and i was making a turn onto a street and then after 3 seconds from straightening out, some idiot side swipes me and all i heard was bending metal and a squealing sounds. I both of us pulled into a parking lot and all i heard was the platics rubbing up against my tire.
I got out and checked out the damage and my front bumper was hanging by a thread, my headlight was scratched up and the fender was bend in. So i was told my friend to call the cops and while he was doing so, the guy that was driving decided that he shouldn't be there and he left, I thought he was going to use the phone. So when the cops came the passenger said that he was driving, so i'm like " he wasn't driving", but since the cop had no proof that the guy wasn't driving, he wrote him down as the driver. So now i'm pretty mad and i want that idiot to pay for everything!!

Sorry to hear about you getting screwed over. There must have been a pretty good reason why the driver decided to bolt and for the passenger to take the blame. Well, the passenger will have his driving record screwed up. What side did you get hit on? If it was the driver's side, I'll buy the scratched up headlight housing from you, since the passenger's insurance is going to pay for a new one. Not the ballast, just the housing. Let me know:

well, he hit me from the driver's side, but i'm not sure if he's insurance will pay, beause he's saying it was my fault so now my insurance is fighting his insurance. I'm still waiting for a call. But i'll see if i can keep the housing.

Did the cops assign fault to anyone, meaning when they wrote up the accident report? Well, it's the passenger's word against you and all your friends, who are also witnesses. Hopefully the truth will prevail and those punks won't get away with what they did. By law, the car repair places have to put in new parts when they fix your car resulting from an insurance claim, and you can ask to have the old parts as proof that they did in fact put in new parts and not just fix the old parts.

Passenger--"Yep, I was the driver who hit the other car."
Cop--"Well, where's your car?"
Passenger--"....." (as in 'I don't know what to tell you about that')
The cop must have been either not concerned enough to investigate further or a very gullible person.
Sounds like the passenger did what he did because the actual driver either had a suspended license or even worse (for him), probably had a warrant out. Said passenger must really care for his buddy to do what he did...

well, ya i have witnesses that said i was in my lane the whole time. He hit my bumper pretty bad, but good thing only damage to my neon lights is that one of the clips broke, but the tube it still in tact. Does anyone know if the body shop will remount the tube back onto the bumper? or will i have to have it reinstalled?
