after i drop my dad to MIA airport. and doing 70 mph saw this black Civci meger into highway and he just punch his 1.8 VTEC with I/E. so do i drop it to SS and downshift to 3rd. Stay with him unit i hit 90 or 100 mph. upshift to 4th @ around 6K rpm......u guys know what happen( our Fuel Economy gears). it drop back to about 4K rpm and waiting to hit back to VTEC rang( VTEC lag). i have to wait unit 120mph to get back my VTEC kick in. but i was like 2 or 3 cars back from him....i guess it is time for mod again.. what do u guys think about VTEC Controller. so i can set my VTEC to kick-in early( like around 4000 or 4500)

Why did you shift at 6k?

My VTEC kicks in at 3800. Stock is 4300.

 

Don't worry I couldn't pull on an Si(had intake exhaust not sure what else) on the highway for some reason either. Not spraying nitrous of course. If I used nitrous I definately would have taken him. BTW Si's have a 1.6L DOHC four cylinder with 160 hp. Not a 1.8.

 

Maybe the civic had a turbo? At high speeds im sure he can easily take the TLS

 

I got beat by Civic h/b with either Nos or Turbo, I saw him acclarated fast around 100mph to 120.. also I lose to a SVT Lighting..that guy acclerated like he didn't know I was racing with him.

You act like it is strange to get beat by an SI. It may be strange if you have a type-S and lost, but don't be if you have a TL-P. The SI's are faster than you think.

like heavy said im not really supprised thatyou got beat ... just cause its a civic dosent mean its a bad car... people just made it that way cause alot of people have them and most are slow.
but you also have to realize that a si has a 1.6 dohc engine that you can pump out about 220hp (180 stock) with minor mods i/e intake,headers,exhaust. and the car weighs in at like 2500(??)
so thats alot for such a little car ... just my opinion

 

get a turbo kit for your tl. I want to race some else in a TL, so it'll be a fair race and the winner is the better driver.

 

If I had NOS, I would never spray on a civic even if he sprayed on me...Waste of time point blank...I think it had to do with the driving, you could have taken him if you did some things differently...Also, he would have never sprayed on you if he was gonna give you a good race and never actually lost...You dont just see a TL and then be like hey, im about to spray on this nigga, no!!! You have to actually see where you stand in the race before...Shyne

 

Si's always beat me at hte track with my few mods, with their comparable few mods...headers, intake, exhaust...etc.

 

A Vtec controller is worthless if your car isn't professionally tuned by a dyno shop... A friend of mine has it, every time he lowers the Vtec kick-in, the check engine light turns on..

The 2002 Civic Si has a 2.0 DOHC that puts out 160hp, ooooh. I could probably beat that thing in neutral...uphill. Those things will need NOS just to compete, especially w/stock at 160hp, and at high-end they just die, no torgue at all, you can hear the engine whine, begging for more power. A guy from my gym pulled up to me on the freeway, with his 26" rims, dual spoilers, curb feelers and full size disco ball hanging from his mirror, challenging me in my wife's car (330CiC) of all things. Either he broke the sound barrier, and I never saw him pass me, or he was a mile back taping the wing back to his hatch.

 

Sell your digital camera and get a new catback exhaust and comptech headers!

Or you could invest in a nice handgun and just shoot out his tires
