Angry Got 2.05 DVD Fast - - - Too Bad!

Well, I got home and there is was. A giant box on my doorstep from Acura. I ripped it opened and ran back to the car, fired it up and changed the DVD (this was very easy). After it loaded, I immediately went to "map mode" waiting to see my street, or at least a nearby street, on my screen which is normally totally blank at my house.

Well, guess what? Still blank! OK, I grab the joystick and start to scroll. NOTHING! Still blank. I check the nearest town.... only the state roads! SH!T!!!! $150.00 for NOTHING!

Of course, the Acura web page lists my town as having "full coverage". In fact, it lists EVERY TOWN IN CONNECTICUT as having "full covereage".

WRONG!!!!

I did not take the car out for a spin. Tomorrow I have to go on a small trip, so I will see what else is new, but at this point I am totally disapointed. They did not even add the "breadcrumbs", as is written in my owners manual. At least this would trace the roads I drive that SHOULD BE ON THIS DVD! (Yes, I checked it and it definately is version 2.05)

I just bought Microsoft Streets for $19, and that has EVERY STREET!

What's the deal????

I believe the breadcrumb feature is strictly for off-road SUV use ala MDX. While the 2.05 DVD has this feature built-in, the CL Navi cannot make use of it. The manual must be poorly worded.

If you purchased 2.05 with the expectation of full coverage CT and did not get what you were promised, you s/b entitled to a refund. Where is this coverage listing on Acura?

I agree. You did not get what was advertised, so you should try and get your money back.

It's a CDROM for the PC, like Street Atlas USA. These inexpensive programs have almost every street in the country (and more) on a scrollable map, like our NAVI. I do not understand why they can do it and Alipne can not. The data on the DVD really has no impact on the NAVI, as moving the icon over blank space takes just as much computer power as moving the icon over a map overlay.

I know we all believe we know the relationship between Alpine and Acura and whatever, but where does it say that you need to go to Alpine website to determine what you are going to get on a product that you order from Acura, customized by Acura, etc?

Yes, it appears to be the same software version and there is some sort of Alpine/Acura connection, but....

If you try to argue the point that you found this pdf someplace on the Internet (that Acura did not point you to?) and this is what you thought you were getting....?

Anyway, I still think you could probably get a refund without having to go to court, perhaps even a credit when you do go for 3.0 later.....

DEFINITELY ask for a refund! I've just ordered my 2.05 DVD today from the Alpine/Acura order line (keep redialing, they never answer their voice mail), and it had BETTER have Lawrence and Tulsa on it.

Anyway, I give Acura a big fat "D Minus" for their Navi DVD distribution dept. Not only is the Navi DVD purchase nearly impossible to find on their web site, their order line and e-mail address may as well be disconnected. Only after auto-redialing many many times did I get a real person who took down my order.

Actually, Alpine's phone support sucks in general. I remember that I had a horrible time trying to get parts for my Alpine CD-ROM navigation.
