I think the BMW 330 is a remarkable car and better than ever. It's scary how stiff competition is these days cause the TL-S all alone is amazing. Although it's no surprise that R&T, MT, and C&D mags love the BMW 330 over its competitors...if you look at March 2002 Consumer Reports, you also see that conservative publication rate 330 at a comfy gap over the new Lexus ES300 and other near-luxury cars. Such praise and top rating among many testers with differing views is a really tough thing to pull.

People say that money isn't everything, but it sure is a heck of a lot!

The TL-S is a great car for the price. It may not have alot of things that I would like, but what can I expect for car that cost $30k.
I just went to go test drive a BMW 330i with the Sport and Premium package and now I finally understand why it is called the Ultimate Driving Machine.
I wish the car could be customized a little more, as I would like a blend of Leather and M Cloth seats, different rims on the sports package, and an available SMG option on the 330. Those are all really picky things and no car is ever perfect.
The ergonomics in the 330 in my opinion are damn near flawless. The orange lighting for the instuments doesn't bother me as it isn't harsh and plus I usually have everything really dim in the car anyway.
But handling and balance is where this car shines. That is something that a front wheel drive car will never be able to obtain.
So if a buyer is looking for a sports sedan and can afford the $40k price tag, then the 330 is the way to go.
Now if you are comparing an IS300 to a TL-S... as they are closer in price.... now that is a no brainer... TL-S I hate the interior of the IS300, it is honestly one of the worst that I ever seen.... especially for that price range.

curious if anyone (coop) traded in the tl-s and what they got for it or what to expect as an initial offer.
for me the tls is too middle of the road. it isnt sporty enough nor luxurious enough for ME but all in all it is one of the best for the $$$. 11K miles with no major probs although i think the rotors are warped/warping.
update:
not the rotors, just my imagination. all this talk about bmw's so i went and test drove one myself. anyone want to buy an acura?
