Good news for modders...which should be everyone here

You guys may all know this, but for those that are doubtful or interested, or just plain don't know, here goes:

I just got a call back from the Acura dealer(Montgomeryville Acura, PA) regarding a call I made to them about mods and their effect on the tranny warrantee. This is what the customer service manager said:

"I spoke with one of my advisors, and he told me exhaust headers, different tailpipe, different air intake etc., nothing you do will disturb a transmission warrantee(this was emphasized). One thing to keep in mind, if you use the comtech parts, and you choose to have them installed at Acura, and they fail, they will be covered by us. Something for you to think about. But regardless of where you install them, your transmission warrantee will remain the same."

Just thought I'd share this, and I have it on tape if anyone needs it.

Good to hear that some dealers respect modders like us.

well most dealers will still honor the comptech deal. the deal with comptech and acura was just that, only comptech parts installed by dealer will not void warranty, but that agreement ended a long time ago, but most dealers still honor it. kinda like Dinan with BMW or AMG with Merc's... too bad comptech is the most expensive modding you can do to your car....

I don't know how it is in PA, but in CA it's illegal to record someone's voice without their consent. If PA is like CA, and if you didn't ask for permission to record, you might want to destroy that tape just in case someone who knows the dealer is on this board. Not trying to nitpick, just trying to help.

only airflow mods will be honored under warranty .. nothing else... not pulleys, not NOS, not flywheels, not anything that affects the internals or electronics affecting the engine...

I'm sorry if I wasn't entirely clear on that point. The manager left a message on my answering machine. That implies knowledge that they were being recorded.

Be sure.
