DO NOT buy it. Basically the "gold package" means all the emblems are nasty fake gold colored. It looks like ass with any color and should never have been an option.

 

so its not even worth it? cant you just debadge everything?

Seems reasonable... But remember, The Tl is infamous for there transmission issues.

I can't give much info. on it, cause I don't understand it that well, But if you use the search feature, There is a bunch of threads on the tranny problem.

 

FYI: 99 Must have the 4 Speed Auto, The problematic is the 5 Speedo....

Im rolling with Gold Emblems in my WDP TL, but hey it looks great for me sooo f*** it....

 

The 4 speed also had problems. It's not a problem exclusive to the 5 speed. Basically the transmission can fail due to a failure in the clutch packs of 2nd or 3rd gear. It's a result of inadequate cooling lines within the transmission casing and in the revised transmission case post Feb 2005 Acura added built in oil cooling lines. It's an incredibly common issue that MANY owners have experienced once or twice, sometimes even three times or more (a failed tranny). It can go at any time, even with proper maintenance and babying the car. There was a massive recall, a class action lawsuit and a resulting extended warranty of 7 years, 106k miles. Unfortunately everyone is pretty much out of that warranty period now. Don't buy any 2nd Gen TL 99-03 without checking if the transmission has been replaced. Other than the problematic transmission our cars are fantastic and have brought much joy to many members. Mine has been brilliant for me for the past 3 years with nothing but regular maintenance.

Yes you can replace all the emblems and debadge the rest but it's a bit of a pain. Unless the rest of the car was exceptional and a really good buy I would keep looking.
