Going to install cai tommorow!!
I'm going to install aem cai with bypass tomorrow and I am wondering if anyone has any advice for me. I have a 00tl and it is the 2 piece cai. Also should I reset the ecu after I have installed any pictures of installed cai would be greatly appreciated.

I just installed my CAI last weekend, I LOVE it (although it is kidna *****y to put on a 99). Anyhow, my chip reset because I disconnected the battery while doing my installation. Its generally a good idea to disconnect the battery while doing work under the hood as a safety precaution. Do you really need to reset the ECU? I doubt it, it should adapt itself but it might take it a little longer. If you do reset your ECU be sure to let the car idle for a couple minutes before revving it as the ECU needs to get initial fuel map readings when first reset. If you want some pictures for installing the CAI see this site.
I would reccomend taking the front bumper off rather then the front left wheel to get to the resonator however. Check out the FAQ on this site for instructions on how to do that. In my 99 I had to move my horn and a wire clip to get the bolts for the CAI to go in properly, hopefully you wont need to do that on your 00. Goodluck!

BTW, for your 00TL, the horn should not be in the way.

Done with the install, I did finally figure out how to get those pesky clips out. The cai sound great at high rpms and I will post the difference in my g-tech times once I run it. I did run into a problem with the bypas valve ( I installed without it) and finding a spot to fasten it. Any body else have these problems?

You have to cut the pipe using the templates that came with the bypass valve in order to put it on properly. It doesn't really matter where you decide to cut the pipe, just use the templates and check to see that there is enough clearance around the pipe for the bypass valve.

That doesnt matter, I have the 2-piece CAI also. Choose a pipe to cut. Also, try reading the directions that came with the bypass valve, the might have some purpose other then sitting inbetween the bypass valve and the box it came in

Look at the pictures in the link I posted above, they should give you a good idea of how to cut. To me it looked like cutting the pipe that attaches to the throttle body to be easier then the other pipe, but again it doesn't matter. The bypass valve doesn't "go over" anything. You take one half of the pipe you cut and put it into one end, and then tighten down the bracket, then stick the other half of the pipe into the other side of the bypass valve.
