was wondering if anyone in new york (i live in flushing, queens) knew of a good place to go get my tints done... also, what are the tint limits in this damn state anyway?

New York

Visor...................................6"

Front doors.......................72%

Rear doors........................72%

Back window.....................any

You can also do a search for tint laws. The price looks like around $100 - $300.

I live in Whitestone... if you're really interested, my cousin owns a shop in the Bronx near Fordham University so if you want, i could hook you up... i got my tints done through him when i first bought my car like a year and half ago and not one single problem. as for tints, i have 20% all around and I havent been pulled over yet ::knocking on wood::

 

All good info but a question comes up.
If we have 72% on front doors in NY, what if we go to NJ, are we going to get a ticket for the tints?

The dealership also tints your windows, but what are the prices there...I will probably find out in the next 10-20 days but if anyone could find out earlier.....

no, you will not get a ticket in NJ...so long as your car is registered in NY and has a NY license plate, the NJ cops cant touch you since oyur car is subject to NY motor vehicle laws, not NJ's.


as for the visor, its the top 6 inches of your windshield.

 

you think NY cops with bother me cuz i have PA plates?

NYC TINT SHOP 718.803.0700 on queens blvd in woodside.. alot of people recommanded to me there and thats where i got it done..

BEST SOUND 718.357.5415 on northern blvd near francis lewis blvd does tints, ive heard there good but not sure.

Best Tire and Car Audio Northern Blvd/Lakeville Road in Great Neck. The best out of any shop in NYC. never fades, never peels, never scratches, lifetime warranty etc etc. Plus they do the small stuff like only using one big piece of tint instead of two small ones, as well as pushing the tint as close as possible to the edge so when you crack your window you don't see that nasty clear line along the edges.

 

which tint will fade the least. Are they all the same or are some more durable. I had an older car with 35% all around. It looked really dark. One day some prick broke the drivers window at night. Got it fixed but never tinted. In 2 months all the windows were purple. i guess the drivers side not being tinted let a lot of sun in and the others didnt hold up anymore. I would hate if that happens to my Inspire. Any ideas?

 

that was probably just cheap tint that you had...really good quality tint will not fade. i have titanium tint on my car...supposedly it doesnt fade. got it for $160 in FL, with the back rear window tinted as one piece and on all the windows, its tinted to the top edge of the them. definitely make sure the tint shop does both and offers a lifetime warranty on the installation and the tint itself.

 

i know someone that works in there.. i wasnt sure if they did tints, they do custom audio/video work tho.. Ja Rule DJ Clue and others go there

NighthawkBlack: good name brand tint like 3M or LLuma will not turn purple, just dont clean them with an ammonia-based cleaner.

 

whats the name of the shop, i got to re-tint my windows... and another quetion you hang out in E. Tremont sometimes? becuase i seen a car just like your a bunch of times on the strip there?

theres a nice place on Queens Blvd in Woodside, Rayco is the name they do some nice a$$ work for a real good proce. I got 25% smoke on my Black TLS and it looks great. Plus you can walk down the street while there doing it and go to big boys toys, illusions, and, exotica to check out some cool accersories

 

I have 20% tint and paid $170 and i don't mind a bit because the quality is excellent. For the TL it would probably be like $190
