Getting new Rotors, Do I need new Pads?
Well, replacing my acp drilled rotors because they too have warped. I am going to try out the Brembos from tire rack. My question is, do I need new pads too? I know that I still have life on the pads but am just wondering if the warpage of the rotors causes a flaw in the pads as well. Using Axxis metal master pads currently. Thanks.
It's a good idea to match a new pair of rotors with new pads but I won't go so far to say that it's an absolute.
I had Brembos on my Talon and those warped just as easily as the stock ones did and they were cross-drilled and slotted.
They did stop shorter but you could hear a light growl from the holes in them. The biggest thing that ticked me off was that they CANNOT be turned and re-used. The bit on the lathe just chips away at the end of each slot in the rotation while turning.
Now solid (normally vented like stock) Brembo's may be different but I'm not sure.
