Be Gentle???
are our cars too fragile? Everywhere I turn something is breaking, giving out or going wrong on someone’s ride, I've had my own share of issues too, EXCEPT tranny
, but really, whats that deal, has honda/ac slipped in quality and outstanding durability???
No and no.
Our cars are pretty reliable and robust. Even the transmission failure rate is, as far as I could gather, lower than 15% at most.
The reason you hear so much about trouble is, of course, people come here to find information regarding car problems.
Of all the cars I have owned over the years, my 2G TL is one of the best in terms of reliability.
But then again, like all things in life, how your particular car would fare is pretty much up to your luck.

Damn - I would certainly hope so. I'm thinking it's more like 1 or 2%
yea do it, i always be getting the evil check engine light. i also bet people aren't as concerned with their cars as they think. probably forget to change fluids or don't do any of it at all. shame. you can get a new body kit but can't change a break lamp. car can't be worth anything unless it goes.

nope wont catch me there. I think the gps, bose, alloys, alarm, hids, and tints are nice bonuses, my car came with tint. When I hit the gas tryin to beat a yellow light the car gets this sudden burst of energy out of nowhere, I'm actually quite happy with this car I just dont like when things break

this is what i heard as well from my Honda Shop. it's more like 2%-5% for the transmission. and that still like 50,000 cars for that transmission (1 million cars using it).
but for the rest of the things .hmmm i think it can be a bit better.
this is what i saw wrong in the one year i own it :
rear mirror - anti glare doesnt work
Driver seat - heated seat stop working
leather - tear in the driver seat
Dashboard - clock back light doesnt work
Hood - the hood struts don't hold the hood anymore
nothing is major , but a bit too much for a "Honda" 2002 that was taken care of.
but i still love it
it's just fun to drive , super smooth, powerful , and slick looking
and yeah , in general it is reliable.

the punch of power is VTEC kickin in at 4700 rpm
CF- please dont tell me your doing 3 qts trans fluid change at intervals
Other cars with 100-150 k miles are rattletraps with many problems and headed for the junkyard.
Ours get the first big service in its life at 105k, then goes happily down the road another 100+.
Orings are rubber and have a life limit inside calipers and master cylinder for brakes, thats called wear out, not problems

rear mirror - anti glare doesnt work--warranty replacement- currently in discussion between maker and acura about who is paying for it, but many of us already got a free new mirror from maker
Driver seat - heated seat stop working- easy fix- see thread Fixed seat heat for 3 dollars
leather - tear in the driver seat - keep leather moist and conditioned- things happen and can be repaired
Dashboard - clock back light doesnt work- probably change the bulb!
Hood - the hood struts don't hold the hood anymore- buy replacement struts and DIY install with a buddy
none of those are serious issues and all easily fixed

sounds like most of the gripes came from wear and tear items.
whether your car is bone stock or heavily modded, any car that is beaten down and driven hard without additional maintenance or car will likely cause the "next" owner some grief...
the only issues ive had with my TLS came from worn suspension, brakes and a tempermental radio that wont accept its radio code unless everything is disconnected from it... Other than that, its been nothing but a true japanese car in reliability, conservative looks and dependable in the worst of weather.
