I currently own a 03 TL-S. I love the car to death....but as you all know the gas prices are raping us in the
so I am going to sacrifice my V6 for an economical 4 banger.
I'm not just trading my car in because of gas prices I'm also saving to buy a house & looking to reduce my monthly payment which will be saving me even more money. In a year when things look better I will buy a brand new car so I'm not worried w/ the P.O.S. I'm going to get. So I'm looking at a couple different car's...I've narrowed it down to 3 cars that would suit my needs.
1) 02 & up Accord 4cyl
2) 02-03 Nissan Altima 2.5L
3) Last Resort 01 & up Civic 4dr
Is there any other car w/ 4 doors 4cyl under $12,000 I should be looking at? I would really appreciate some feedback. O.K. I'm going to kick myself in the nuts now...
and get drunk
and then

u will be suprised by ur first two choices that they dont get any better in mpg than ur TL S. the difference is 2-4mpg city/4-6mpg highway.
if you want really economical, check out the honda fit and/or toyota yaris. two new kids on the block w/ great gas mileage, a warranty, and in ur price range.
also check out the new 06 civic EX sedan. this would be my choice even tho the fit is growing on me.

I'm going to do more research on cars.com to see other cars....I know I defiinitely don't want a domestic P.O.S. Need something reliable w/ four doors...A $200 car payment only get's me in a 10,000 dollar car......I don't mind the milage if it's a foreign car.

Honda+Blue=My garage
I had a modded 95 Integra GSR and got almost 30 mpg and ran with Mustang 5.0's of the day.
That said, you should probably just modify driving based on what you lost on depreciation on the initial purchase, you will be multiplying that x2 with another car (used depreciate when resold also).
Otherwise you could look for something a bit sporty like a GSR or R-type for mileage. you will still be on premium, but I guess that depends on if you want ot give up performance 100%

One of the things my wife gripped about was the TL took prem gas so I figured it out it cost us $4 extra per fill up to use prem over reg. reg is on average $.20 cheaper and with a 20 gallon tank, and thats how we ended up with the TLS

so whats the difference between 87 and 93?? 2- 2 1/2 bucks a fill up?? are you really going to save that much. Get used to these prices. We still have it good at these prices and nothing is going to change.

I agree that selling a car solely for gas mileage may not be that great of an idea. But, if you need lower payments and better gas mileage, my TL has a 98 Camry four-cylinder stable mate that gets gas mileage that should be impossible. I'd post the numbers, but no one here would believe it. Kris can vouch, though, as I've been known to send him pictures of gas mileage it returns.
I'd strongly recommend a 97-01 (Gen4 and Gen4.5) Camry with the 5S-FE four-cylinder if you're looking for something with great gas mileage and extremely low costs to own. Plus, the reliability and durability has been great. At 135k miles, this 98 is in fantastic shape.

In my personal experience, a four-cylinder Camry would be the best choice for fuel economy. My 99 Accord four-cylinder didn't get any better gas mileage than my TL does.

C5 or C6 Vette. They are getting 30+ on the hwy and they are a hella lot faster than the TL
Some of you are going to have to get over this, cause these prices arent going away.
Hell try filling up almost every day at 75 bucks a fill up. like i do

Thanks guys....I'm still looking around. It's hard going to the dealer...and the only thing they will give me is the kelley blue book....15,990. WTF! Damn Transmission! I am dealing w/ one Honda dealership and they said they will give me 17,000 for my TL...I just rolled over 60k miles....It's ashame I thought I would get more.So... I'm waiting till they get something on their lot...
Diesel doesn't sound bad. I'm going to do more research on it though....I don't personally like Toyota either....the only good car they have ever made was the Supra..

I was thinking about the same question, sell or not sell. Honestly I get 27.5 mpg average and the 2 dollars more I end up paying at the pump every week is not enough for me to get rid of my car.

on average i get like 19-20...shits killing my funds at 45 a fillup and only a 300 mile range tops

Drifting
i get about 23mpg in my 4speed 99tl. i dont know how the heck you guys are driving, because those that followed me to meets and/or just drove around with me knows how heavy my foot can get on the throttle.
i do all city driving. live in jersey city, work here or drive into nyc where is nothing but stop and go. i spend 65 bucks on premium gas every other day to fill up my tank, but you dont see me giving up on my car for some 4banger that gets 2 or 3 mpg better than mine.. if you think about it, youre just wasting your time and money to trade in your car and getting a used economy car.

Well....I traded in my favorite car today
A 134 HP drop! I know I'm so stupid.....but this time next year I should be back w/ an 08 TL Hopefully......I bought a used 05 Nissan Sentra 1.8 special edition, Silver. It only has 13k miles on it and has a little pep....35 MPG! Well 32-33 with the new ethanol ghey gasoline. Sad to say it though the factory 300watt 9-speaker Rockford Fosgate 8inch Subwoofer and amp is louder and clearer than the TL's BOSE stereo. Also which is cool, the used Nissan dealer just filled the tank up and I have the receipt 26.00 at 3.19 Regular
It was on empty when I test drove it but the light didn't come on so it will probally be $27-28.00 full tank. So yeah if theres any lucky bastard in the Southern PA, NJ, MD & Northern DE area theres a mint condition 2003 Aegean Blue pearl already tinted up for you at Sheridan Nissan New Castle, DE.
Alright Thanks for all your help over the time.

just curious but why not just buy a pos to drive around? I have two honda accords man to go around with my normal cars and it makes things much easier with regards to gas mileage, etc. Anyway, good luck.
