And you're complaining? I'm getting like 13 to 14 I think. I fill up twice a week. I think I'm getting just under 300 miles per full tank. That sucks.

Damn I am getting some pretty bad mpg numbers myself. I get like 250 miles per fill-up. I do recall putting like 14.5 gallons so I figure around 14-17 mpg. That sucks. What could I do to get better mileage?

I barely hit 225 miles on the trip on a tank when the light turns on...then I fill up like 13.5 to 14 gallons..

if i remember correctly, headers and exhaust increase mileage, intakes reduce it. So het a new header and exhaust! (I'll try that one on my wife...)

otherwise, drive highway only (yeah right)
or drive less aggressively (yeah right2)
or drive w/o ever hitting the VTEC range (uh right)

Ohwell, just my suggestions for better mileage.

I got about 430 miles from a full tank of gas. The driving was both city and highway. Also, some city like speed on highways if you know what I mean.

I get about 230 miles per tank. I average about 14-16 mpg. A guy I work with drives almost all highway abd puts on about 30k miles per year. He regularly gets anywhere from 410 to 440 miles per tank. So, it is possible.

Keep your right foot from being nailed to the floorboard for a complete tank. I know its hard but a half a dozen fast starts will empty your tank faster than you think!!!!

This car sucks in the mpg department... I went from my old car's 30+ mpg's to 15- mpg's this is unbelievable... my fathers Lincoln Town Car gets better mileage, and he has 300K+ on that car...

I usually get 600-650 kms/full tank or 300-350 miles/tank. That's city/highway driving with around 10 miles of stop/go.
I have about 18k miles on 2000TL. I think you'll get better mileage as you put more mileage on your cars. By the way, my TL is
a Canadian version, which I think same cars
as the US ones. My 2000-TypeR is really bad,
around 250 miles/tank only with aggressive
driving on the freeway.

I can get above 400 per full tank, but my fuel light comes up around 390 & I would fill up between 13.5~14.5 gallons. My driver are mostly highways & I try to avoid city lights as much as possible (shorts cuts, U-turns you name it ...)

Acura says "19/29 mpg City/Highway". Try this.. follow posted speed limits and see
how much mileage you get. I'm pretty sure Acura had done lots of test drives to obtain such numbers to put on their brochures. You can do it too guys!

The EPA does the gas mileage testing/estimating, not Acura. They have a test loop for each, producting a reliable gage to compare cars against, not necessarily to predict YOUR mileage.

Read the small print on the sticker. You'll find your mileage might be as low as 8 MPG (if I remember correctly).

Damn 8 mpg? Who in there right mind would get only 8 mpg? WTF? Now I'm glad I get like 14+. I'll try to not step on it all the time, and drive more highways, if I can. But it seems most of us is getting around 225-250 miles per tank. Not good.

I found my sticker. It says between 16 and 22 city, 24 and 34 highway. Ironically enough, while I was keeping track, my worst was about 22 and my best was about 34.

When I went to Florida last year, I averaged close to 400 miles on a full tank going down I-95. I'm not bullshiting either because I checked the trip meter.
But around town, I average about 250-280 on a full tank. I also only use premium gas for my baby.

I should have gotten a 500 mile run if I had more balls.

Note: My mileage went down after nixing the Energy tires about 2-3 MPG. I used to have 200-210 miles on the odo at exactly half a tank, now it is more like 185-195.

At exactly half a tank it swallows almost exactly 7 gallons.

My TL has about 19k miles on it and I get about an average of 20-26 miles to a gallon, but the fuel warning light turns on when i have 4, almost 5 gallons still in the tank.

BS? not really but thats what my trip meter read when the light came on. Not all of us drive with the pedal nailed to the floor. But I'll check on the next tank of gas.

nah, no one's BS'ing, y'all just drive like my wife!
But seriously, I did get over 300 miles this past fill up this week and put in only 12.1 gallons( 25.04mpg) (at 16 gallons for a full fillup, thats over 400 miles, i usually fill at 1/4 tank though). I layed off the gas a bit after reading the start of this thread just to see what i got. This was a mix of highway and city, and with less traffic this week, the commute was better too. Too bad its just not as fun. I guess I pay alot in gas for the way I drive.

WTF! I only get 360 to 380 km per full tank. That's like 225 to 236 miles per full tank. The best I have got was like 250 miles out of a full tank. How can you guys get that like mpg on your car? My 2000 tl is stock. Oh.. I always use Ultra 94 since day one. Don't know if that makes a difference...

But I hope I can see 300mile per full tank one day...

The way my wife drives, she gets 3-5 MPG worse than me.

It's all about energy conservation and smoothness. You don't have to drive like a friggin grandma to get good MPG.

I have my share of fun. In fact, moderately aggressive acceleration is more efficient than driving like a pansy.

"Move to the country"

In the city, your driving experiences will be worse than the EPA city cycle.

Take a quick survey of people's mileages vs. their residence. You'll see what I mean.

Another way to help conserve gas it to drive with a constant pressure on the gas pedal. By constantly pumping the gas and letting go it seems to really eat up gas. One it makes the rider queezy(sp?) and two it eats up gas. I've riden in cars where the driver did this and its a worth while experience.

Cool

I get 23 to 26 mpg mixed driving. I get about 29 on my 4 cyl Accord. I wish the TL had a bigger tank capacity so I wouldn't need to fill up so often. I get about 320 miles per fillup

Also, when my mileage drop, I noticed that after an oil change and tire inflation check, I get back to the optimal mpg again, so my recommendation is to check the air in your tire and change oil every 3000 miles.

Wow, I'm not the only one to have crappy gas mileage. I get alittle over 16mpg. Not too surprised though cause I live less than 15 minutes away from work, and its all city driving. My car hasn't fully warmed up and I'm already at work/home.

This may sound stupid, but you might want to find a "longer" way to work, perhaps including a small stretch of highway where you can open her up a little.

You have to decide if there is a trade-off between the extra gasoline your car consumes and the longevity of the engine and exhaust components.
