gas gauge?
hey guys, i was wondering if you any of you were experiencing this also? well, i filled up my tank.. reset the mileage gauge to see how many miles i can pull. i was quit dissappointed with the 310 miles. so the next fill up, im filling up. and it was quit odd, i only get 11 gallons in. i think my gauge is jacked.
Typical car gas gauges are not very accurate, and are not linear (that is, they don't move the same amount for each gallon used).
Don't trust the gauge any more than telling you approximately how much gas you have left at most.
The only reliable way to determine MPG is to fill your tank up and reset your trip meter. Then drive around until your next fillup. Note how much gas you have to put in to fill the tank up again, and note how many miles you've traveled.
MPG = miles / gallons used.
